Literally the best review I have ever received. Y’all!!! Hairdressers and dermatologists can work together to create the best solution!!! Tell us what your using and what is prescribed. It is the best for all of us!! The last thing a derm and stylist went is for your scalp to be inflamed and irritated and products not working. I will never take away a medication - but I will research what is best for the health of the scalp to keep it balanced and healthy. My job isn’t a great cut or highlights. It’s the health and happiness of your whole self.

Today she cut more layers, tighter on the sides, especially my right, made a plan for some surprising color in March, & per usual, connected over life & femme entrepreneurship & our drive to

Guess what book Shanyn is reading…Level Up by Ryan Leak. I used to use this hashtag all the time as I was obtaining & certifications.

This woman listens well (as most stylists) & knew I was potentially with yet how does one one open that discussion?

Thank you Shanyn for always challenging me to think & do what God has opened for me.

Also, today she helped me with my flaming hot scalp.

Remember how I was losing my hair? Remember how my dermatologist diagnosed me with hereditary hair loss, inflammation (very pink scalp & large swollen follicles), low iron, & dandruff (not detectable unless you really part my hair & look at my scalp) & put me on a topical scalp steroid along with Rogaine & a dandruff shampoo? Too much!

So now I have a treatment plan from Shanyn that includes my topical steroid while ceasing T-sal or T-gel shampoo & Rogaine, cooler showers or hair washing temps, some calming shampoo & leave-in spray…my head feels better. Oh, & I am buying a baby’s brush to help exfoliate my scalp. Who knew turning 50 would bring such new understandings?!

I talk of hair loss, dandruff, being neurodivergent with ADHD to normalize the 💩 we go through. We never have to do it alone as long as we invite others to be honest too. I refuse to experience shame & isolation over being an aging & imperfect woman by those with standards that are from non-reality life like media of any kind, with all kinds of filters on our stories & the images of ourselves.

If you can relate to any of this, give a hands up or shout out here or privately. When we are willing to be vulnerable we can destigmatize what is actually normal or redefine normal & we give others permission to be authentic.

This gorgeous woman has been in my chair going on 6 years. She’s not just a guest- she’s become my friend. And when she brought in an inspiration pic that one of my team did - I think we kinda hit it!
