Look what I got to do today! What an awesome transformation. With silver stubborn grey roots and a gold band followed by old black color someone attempted to high light giving her red ends... this poor sweet lady had been to 3 stylists on an extremely limited time constaint as a caregiver over many months and all she wanted was to not be so very dark. It can be done. It takes hours and hours but it's doable with proper patience and care and good quality products. We did not use higher than 20 volume on her hair to remove the black with Malibu DDL and zero bleach and then deposited over the bright orange with an NN and an Ash with added graphite to hide any red. Gorgeous soft Shiney healthy medium brown for the holidays. Ten years off her look. Check! 💕 I love my job so much!

This child-like blonde with both vanilla and sunny tones was created without bleach. I've had guests tell me they had been told it was impossible to get bright blonde with only 20 volume and without using toners but here we can see using bright tones within and underneath creates a natural blonde color that is not dull, not gold or white, and did not damage the hair. Here's the proof in the pudding formula:
Scruples Blazing
Formula #1. 5 scoops xlight booster concentrate, 1/8oz 8G, 1/2oz 12V, 1/2oz high lift oil and 2 Oz 20 vol creme
Formula #2.
6 scoops booster concentrate 3/4 Oz 12V, 1/2oz high lift oil and 2oz 20 volume creme

Today's correction:
From home job to professional, countering the gold with a shadow root with 10 volume and pale vanilla foils with only 20 volume 😀 (did not pull through ends, just lifted to match ends and again... only 20 volume, no toner needed) if your stylist is Still using bleach; I'm sorry. 🙃
*a side note: when we speak of color being an illusion it really can play tricks and depend on the lighting and we see that here as no filters used. The top 2 and bottom left photos were taken from the same direction from the side of the most direct light source and can clearly see going from dark roots to brassy gold to white-ish ends and the bottom left correctly matching up while bottom right is opposite the direct light and lower, showing shaded creamier view of color while brightest on top corner from the overhead light... still all the same color while looking different from opposite angles. If ever unsure of the tone achieved, look at it from different vantage points and overhead, vs natural outdoor light sources before leaving your salon to be sure it all blends to your liking :)

Another correction. I wanted to soften the black roots and blend the line while toning down the red, orange or gold tones to more of a nice medium brown to honey blonde. Not a simple process chemically, and required multiple formulas applied simultaneously with specific placement plans for each color and each section. This would be one of the reasons corrections are so much more expensive than basic color applications.

This young teen was super excited to get her first hair color!! She was attracted to the hombre type color shift to all lighter at the bottom but both her and mom wanted it to be subtle instead of bold and also not require any potential need for maintenance or future foils to blend in new root growth. This is what I came up with.... a super seamless blend from her natural medium brown to a light wheat blonde at the ends. Love it!!

These before and after pics are so stunning. Lifting natural dark black hair (Asian, Hispanic, Indian etc) is always difficult trying to attain soft neutrals. It will always pull so much warmth! This correction to a beautiful mushroom and graphite soft brown from a faded and overly warm shade took place over two appointments several hours and processes
each. First I went in and blended a soft neutral black at the root and through the shafts to blend away the color line and add depth while covering the rest with a 6 ash brown and added graphite intensifier. This created our mushroom color blended out with soft black base. Next we went back in with strategically placed foils to lift to a blonde and then colored them over again with an ash 9 again heavily intensified with graphite to achieve soft grey tones. Now there is a seamless blend with a natural black base for depth and soft light grey tones to flicker off the light creating a truly gorgeous soft mushroom brown. A lot of work, but so very stunning on this young lady's hair!

That Florida sky though... with the gulf like glass as the light shifts amazing colors on the horizon. Today I am so very thankful. Doing what I love for a living... I am ever more grateful each year for all of you. Countless days this year, 2020 has hit hard, and I still walked away getting to see all your wonderful smiles (or know they are there even under face masks), which saved my day so many times. I am humbled to still be a stylist and that it brings me joy daily after so many years. A true blessing for me and my boys. Thank you all for trusting me with your hair. Happy Thanksgiving!
