Salt water vs. chlorine: they both damage your hair, but in totally different ways. Here’s how to protect it. 🌊🏊

FIRST, THE BASICS (for every swim)
・Pre-soak with clean water. Hair full of fresh water soaks up less salt and chlorine.
・Rinse right after so nothing dries into your strands.
・Protect from UV. Sun breaks down hair the same way it does your skin. A leave-in or heat protectant spray with UV filters works great.

OCEAN + LAKE 🌊
The problem: salt and minerals pull moisture out and rough up the cuticle. That’s the straw-like, tangled feeling after a beach day.
The fix: moisture, moisture, moisture. Follow up with a hydrating mask and a leave-in oil.

POOL 🏊
The problem: chlorine strips your hair’s natural oils and can react with copper in the water to leave a green tint on lighter hair.
The fix: a clarifying shampoo to lift buildup. For stubborn green tones, use a chelating shampoo, which removes the mineral deposits a regular wash leaves behind. Always follow with a deep conditioner.
