Karmen walked in with the perfect, natural level 7 and requested hand painting. Sometimes people say they want balayage but then when I see their inspo pics I have to explain, that’s not balayage girlfriend. That’s ok though, it’s not your job to understand all the lingo! Your job is to describe what you want and show me pictures, it’s my job to know what technique is going to get you there. In this case though, Karmen was right and we got right to painting. The absolute BEST choice for the lowest maintenance grow out! Who else wants a few pops to stave away the dark at 4pm blues?

I’m always honored when anyone sees my work and wants to make an appointment. I’m THRILLED when it’s a new redhead!! There’s a theory going around that I like to make everyone look like me, but that’s easily debunked when you see the final result, and these girls hairs look a million times better than mine. (I’m due for a paint job....anyone?? I pay!) It was so fun meeting Lauren. She’s sweet and had never had highlights in her magical red hair! WHAT?!? Time to break that seal! Painting is so low maintenance we’ll probably only need to do it 1-2 times a year! Boom 💥

We’ve been painting blonde bits into her hair but this time she wanted something warmer and a tiny bit copper. My toxic trait is I will make anyone a redhead so this was an easy one for me. When you meet young women like Zahra, you feel a little better about the future. Life handed her obstacles I could never dream but here she is, doing it on her own, crushing life with her compassion still fully intact. Chopping her hair and dying it blue is not exactly a cultural norm for her, but she’s doing things her way and I am truly honored to be the one who delivers it. I love hair, but damn am I in love with the people, too. If Zahra can stay soft, so can I. 💙🩵💙🩵

I last saw Taylor over a year ago and her hair was still looking 🔥. God bless a hand paint, amirite? This time she wanted a little bit of sparkle added to her natural but didn’t want to feel too blonde. I approached it a little differently this time but she should still enjoy her year away from me. I recently met Maddie and after I ooohed and aaahed over her natural hair color she tells me she wants to change it all! And since I’m merely the maker of your dreams we got to it. A tiny bit richer on top, some fun color blocking and a huge chop did the trick and she’s feeling like a new lady. Love creating on the beautiful heads of Sacramento! Thanks for keeping me busy!

Having a 90’s resurgence having been a teenager in the actual 90’s is making me happier than I would’ve thought. While I’m over here trying to figure out how to embrace some of the trends whilst not looking like a poser, these young folk are killing it, chopping their hair into the Winona Ryder cuts I was always to chicken to do myself. Turns out, still chicken, but more than happy to chop yours.

Stylists, have you ever been a year in to doing a clients hair when all of a sudden it hits you? Why haven’t I been doing xyz?? That happened the other day when I realized Ashley’s beautiful hair needed to be painted, not foiled like I had in the past. After coloring her own hair nearly black every two to three weeks (damn grays!) Ayesha was ready for a change. Hoping that lightening it up a bit might give her another week or two between touch ups. I know so many ladies in the same boat. The first time I did a heavy paint to take out some of the darkest stuff and so when we went in to highlight the contrast was a little softer. Lucky for me Ayesha trusts my instincts and has patience for the process. We were both super happy with the results and I’m just glad someone as unfortunate looking as Ayesha at least has good hair 😜
