Entry School, Part 4: transformations 📸

Your before and after might be the most competitive category in the whole awards... and most entries lose points before the judges even look at the hair.

Three things that separate a good transformation entry from a great one:

Keep the background consistent. Same wall, same spot, same light. When the room changes between shots, the eye goes to the room instead of the hair.

Shoot both images from the same angle. Match the angle and the lighting and the transformation speaks for itself... mismatch them and it reads like a camera trick.

And don’t make the before look worse. Wet, flat, unstyled hair doesn’t make your after stronger, it makes it less believable. Your work is impressive enough without stacking the deck.

The best transformations don’t need help. They just need to be photographed honestly 🤍
