Kelexis McKinley started doing makeup after high school in 2014. Her cosmetology school shut down two weeks after she graduated. She balanced multiple jobs, transformed her living room into a glam room and kept building.
Eleven years later, Slayage By Keke is a storefront beauty studio at 690 University Ave. in St. Paul serving clients across the Twin Cities.
"My own face was my canvas when I started," McKinley said.
