PALINDROME weddings

yesterday, ICE came to my work looking for me.

i was on my day off, trying to have a pretty unproductive day to try and decompress from this months events when i got the call.

they came in using my title but not my name. asking my coworker questions about me. asking her to confirm my first and last name and to give them my phone number. she didn’t feel comfortable disclosing this information so she told them my first name and had my back for the rest.

i am legally allowed to be here. i am what they call a “naturalized citizen”. because i am adopted, my birth certificate states my birth country, so i need both my birth certificate and my naturalization papers to prove my citizenship.

for those of you who still think ICE is just coming after criminals, i wanted to share my story to help you understand that this is happening to all brown people.

i have no idea how i could have made it on any sort of list. my best guess is this is a reaction to some form of racial profiling, because i legally have every right to be here…. i just happen to be brown.

i urge you all to take this as seriously as it is. check in on your brown friends. protest peacefully, support small businesses, love your neighbors….. and ICE OUT.

as a woman of color, with brown children, living in minnesota…..i am unwell.

this state of unrest has me reeling. waking up is hard, sending my kids to school is hard, going to work is hard…. but even i know, it’s harder for others right now.

we love our immigrant neighbors. we love and support all people. we desperately want peace. we are actively protesting, supporting those who can’t even leave for groceries, and managing nerves of those who are at risk.

i have always loved being brown. i’ve loved being different in the sea of white i grew up in. i have loved that my brown children are being raised in diversity, community, and acceptance.

as the founder of this company and brand- it is time to announce our stance on this and stand with our community. ICE OUT.

i spent most of 2025 in a haze. i was working like a crazy person- 5 months of 2025, i literally didn’t have a single day off.

i took some leaps, saw some things, and managed as best as possible.

today, i am at peace. i dissolved a business i worked really hard to build. i am revamping the wedding business (stay tuned for that shtuff). i finally achieved work/life balance, ready to embrace what 2026 has to offer.

this year already has some major highlights scheduled. as previously mentioned, i am rebranding weddings and what we have to offer. i am hosting my own wedding in the summer. i am delegating, shining, and volunteering more.

i will be on this page more all year round, but for now, please enjoy these pictures of my family. happy new year to you all!!

it truly comes down to, i suck at social media. i want to want to. but then life happens and i totally forget.

enough about me, let’s talk about emma. the most beautiful, wonderful human ever. i enjoyed every single second i got to be around you. i hope you’re all healed and life is even more than expected. you rent a lot of space in my brain and i am forever grateful you chose us to be a part of your amazing day!!
