This weekend we celebrated our 10th year in business. 🎉🥳 A business I started with nothing. No money. No knowledge. No mentor. No blueprint. 🚫

It was May 6, 2011, and I was a 26 year-old junior-year college student on my way from Atlanta, GA headed to St. Louis, MO. I took a week off school, at , to do the unthinkable, what they said I could not do. I was going to do what I never seen anyone do until now.🥺

I was going to open a business.

For the past year, in between classes and my 2 waitressing jobs, I had dreamt of and was preparing to open a hair salon back home in St. Louis. We would specialize in sew-in hair extensions, and I would call it, Sew St. Louis. Get it?😉

Although these salons were VERY popular in Atlanta, mine would be the first of its kind in the St. Louis area.

When I announced my plans, everybody asked the same daunting questions….

“But how? You don’t do hair.”

“...and don’t you live in Atlanta?”

“How are you going to pay for it? You don’t have any money.”

I wished I had never told anyone. By them pointing out the obvious, it was kind of like someone injecting my entire body with fear.

All of those questions played in my head over and over again. They were right.

I had no knowledge or education concerning the hair industry. I had never installed a sew-in a day in my life.🥴
..and I did live in Atlanta, which was a 16-hour roundtrip drive.

…and most importantly, I didn’t have any money.

As afraid as I was, I somehow found the strength to tap into the ONE THING I did have. The one things that had allowed me to come this far….

That’s how it all started. Yet, here I am celebrating my 10th year in business. 🤯😭🙌🏽 I was just a kid with nothing to my name but faith that God would use me to do the impossible.
