The man, the myth, the legend… our Havana Godfather, Gerardo. 🎉✂️

This post is dedicated to celebrating another year of Gerardo’s dedication, growth, and commitment to Havana Salon.

From the moment Gerardo joined the Havana family, he has brought talent, heart, humility, and an unwavering commitment to excellence. He is the kind of person who shows up for his clients, his teammates, and our salon every single day. His positive attitude is contagious, his work ethic is unmatched, and his genuine care for others is something truly special.

It’s no surprise that Gerardo holds the record for the most 5-star reviews at Havana. His guests don’t just love their hair—they love the experience he creates. He has a remarkable ability to make every person who sits in his chair feel welcomed, valued, and confident. Time and time again, he goes above and beyond, and it shows.

Around Havana, we’ve affectionately nicknamed him “The Havana Godfather.” Not because he’s the loudest in the room, but because he’s the one everyone can count on. He’s always willing to lend a hand, support a teammate, share his knowledge, crack a joke, or step in wherever he’s needed. He helps make Havana feel less like a workplace and more like a family.

As we celebrate another year with Havana, we’re also celebrating all that’s ahead. Gerardo continues to grow his expertise, expand his service offerings, and elevate his craft. Watching his confidence and career flourish has been an absolute joy, and we know this next chapter is going to be his best yet.

A Day in the Life ✨

A day in the life of a hard-working mom, salon owner, and educator who never seems to have enough hours in the week to get it all done.

Today it’s class prep, a quick trim behind the chair, and checking a few more things off the never-ending to-do list. Then it’s time to trade work mode for family time and head out to the Gilbert House for some well-earned fun after a long Saturday.

For this makeover, I used the NEW Paul Mitchell Pre-Bonded Lightener—quickly becoming one of my favorite lightening systems for maintaining hair integrity while achieving beautiful lift. ⚡️

To create the perfect lived-in blonde, I finished with a Wella Base Breaker and cool gloss to soften the root area, melt away harsh lines, and create a natural, low-maintenance grow-out.

The result? A bright, dimensional blonde with a soft transition and gorgeous shine. ✨

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the loss of our beloved salon mascot, Izzy — also known as Frizzy Izzy, Frizz, and our forever puppy.

As you can imagine, despite her old age, this loss is tremendous. Izzy was so much more than a salon dog. She was our greeter, lap warmer, best friend, and a cherished part of the Havana family. She had a special way of making every guest feel welcome and loved from the moment they walked through the doors of Havana Salon.

We can’t imagine moving forward without her sweet disposition, gentle spirit, and genuine love for every person who crossed our threshold. She brought comfort, smiles, and joy to so many, and her absence will be deeply felt.

To honor Izzy’s memory, we would love for you to share any photos, stories, or memories you have of her. Please tag Havana Salon so we can celebrate the life and love of a dog who touched so many hearts.

Thank you for loving our sweet girl as much as we did. She may be gone from our salon, but she will forever remain a part of Havana’s story.

The final color was even prettier in person, but that’s salon life—running behind the chair, educating, answering questions, and somehow forgetting to take enough photos. 😅

This transformation took an overly processed, porous level 9 and turned it into this beautiful, rich tone using Paul Mitchell The Color.

One of my favorite things is not just creating the result, but teaching my team the process behind it.
