Marion County Search and Rescue Rescues Injured Husky near Olallie Butte
Last night, Marion County Sheriff's Office Search and Rescue (SAR) volunteers responded to assist with the rescue of a 75-pound husky near the summit of Olallie Butte after suffering injuries that prevented it from walking.
SAR volunteers hiked to the dog's location, assessed the situation, and safely secured the husky in a wheeled litter designed for backcountry rescues. The team then carefully transported the dog down the trail to its awaiting owners.
We are grateful for the dedication of our SAR volunteers, who are always ready to respond—whether the call is for a person or a beloved family pet.
If you're heading into the outdoors with your pets, remember to plan ahead, carry plenty of water, be mindful of trail conditions, and know your pet's physical limits. A little preparation can help keep every member of your hiking party safe.
