Beauty professionals: would you know how to respond if a client told you they were experiencing abuse?
The trust built during an appointment can create an opportunity for someone to speak up. At The Cat House, we believe professionals should have practical education to handle that moment with care.
Listen without judgment. Respect their choices. Offer resources without pressuring them to disclose more or leave a relationship. You don’t have to have every answer to offer support.

👻 ACID FILES: LACTIC ACID
Not all acids are here to scare the hell out of your skin. 😂
Lactic acid is an AHA that exfoliates while also helping support hydration, making it a great option for dry, dull or rough-feeling skin.
It can help reveal smoother, brighter-looking skin without being as aggressive as some stronger exfoliating acids.
🎃 But here's the trick: you can still overdo it.
If your skin is suddenly red, peeling, burning or sensitive—even when applying normally gentle products—put down the acids and give your barrier time to recover.
Skincare isn't supposed to hurt to work.

Ever get little red bumps after waxing? Let's talk about it! 🐈⬛
Have you ever left a waxing appointment wondering why your skin suddenly looks red, bumpy, or irritated?
One possible explanation is a histamine reaction!
Histamine is a chemical your body releases as part of its natural response to irritation and inflammation. Because waxing involves removing hair from the follicles, some people experience temporary redness, itching, warmth, or little bumps afterward.
✨ How can you help your skin calm down?
🐾 Apply a cool compress.
🐾 Avoid hot tubs, saunas, and intense workouts for the rest of the day.
🐾 Avoid fragranced products and harsh exfoliation until your skin settles.
🐾 Resist the urge to scratch or pick!
Most mild post-wax redness settles on its own. However, if you experience significant swelling, blistering, spreading redness, or symptoms that persist or worsen, seek medical advice.
And remember: not every post-wax reaction is caused by histamine. Irritation, contact reactions, and other skin conditions can look similar.
