Protein powders and things to keep in mind:

-what works for someone else, might not work for you
-quality ingredients > brand
-don’t over supplement- in fact, really only supplement if you need a way to get more protein in. Otherwise, rely on whole foods
-animal proteins are elite. Think about it- their amino acid profile is wayyyy more similar to us than a plant, that’s why our bodies prefer it.

If you feel stiff and trapped in your body, here are some fun moves I’ve been doing/ working on for spinal mobility 🙌

-hanging scap retractions
-handstand holds
-plow to hamstring stretch
-alternating wheel

Moving your body in all planes and directions allows you to feel more free and makes you feel like a kid again.

Why do we stop doing the things we used to as kids? Continue to crawl, bend, skip, and try gymnastics skills to rejuvenate your body 🫶🏼✨

My camera roll from the past few weeks ✨

Lots of joy, travels (VA➡️ SC➡️ FL), and time away from life’s fast pace.

As I head into the new year, I’ve decided to read Atomic Habits again and it holds so many good things to think about.

A big theme I’ve picked up on so far is this:

In order to make change, you have to make it part of your identity. If you want to start eating healthy, you have to believe you are a health-conscious person, if you want to start weight training, you have to believe you are an athlete.

Whatever the change you are wanting to make, you have to become it. Don’t say, “I am trying to lose weight”, instead embody what it takes to do so.

Habits can be all sorts of things- not just health focused- but I hope everyone takes some time to think about and/ or write out your goals you have for yourself and the systems you are going to use to achieve them.

They say your 20s is the time to figure it out, but a big part of me hopes I never will. 🤔

If I’ve figured it out, I’ve stopped seeking problems that need solving and started being content with average when I know there is better.

I believe we notice a change around us and there’s a subsequent change in ourselves to make a new change for the world.

I hope I never feel like I’ve figured it out, rather that I embrace the seasons of change in myself and encourage the same in others 🫶🏼

When colder temperatures and shorter, gray days arrive, you may begin to experience the “winter blues”. This state may, in fact, be seasonal affective disorder, or SAD. The onset of SAD symptoms typically begin in late-fall and last throughout the winter months. The good news is there are very simple strategies for turning your frown upside down - for example, getting your body up and moving, seeking out social situations, letting more light into your life, and eating a well-balanced diet to get more energy! So, whenever you start feeling sad, unmotivated, or have trouble sleeping this winter, try implementing some strategies from into your normal routine to fight the blues!. 💙💚
