Why it’s time you swap out your light weight/high rep strategy…

Truth is, that toned look you want is a result of 
1️⃣ Lowering fat mass and
2️⃣ Increasing muscle mass

Period. It’s actually not more complicated than that.

Where the confusion comes in is HOW to make that happen…

Cheat code is that focusing on ⬆️ muscle mass will help with decreasing fat mass (!!) so,

In order to increase muscle mass, we have to lift with 
1️⃣ Proper form so we’re effectively targeting the intended muscle and
2️⃣ Lift like you mean it! The last 2 reps should be TOUGH to finish! 

If you do 1 and 2, your muscles will grow back bigger and stronger and you’ll need to continue challenging them to grow back bigger and stronger bigger and stronger, etc. 💪

That means if you started with pink 5 lb-ers, you can’t continue using 5 pounders if you want to make progress.

The ONE habit that practically guarantees success in your fitness journey…

…is not sexy.

In fact, most success habits are not sexy.

1️⃣ Add your workouts to your calendar as a non-negotiable
2️⃣ Pick 2 protein-based recipes for the week
3️⃣ Create a grocery list to match
4️⃣ Meal prep (cooking said recipes) in calendar
5️⃣ Create game plans around social commitments
6️⃣ Meals in MyFitnessPal before the day starts

Again, not sexy. But this is what works — and is 100% within your control.

Success boils down to time management.

And if you nail that, you’ll be very happy with your progress.

I grew up a competitive swimmer.

Which means my entire relationship with food was to eat as much as possible 😑

And my entire relationship with exercise was to show up and do what coach says…

So when I got to college, all I knew was to eat a lot and follow directions 🤷🏽‍♀️

I remember going to the gym for the first time feeling completely lost.

Like everyone around me had a manual I never got. It was so intimidating.

So I did what most girls do when they don’t know where to start…

I went through the too-much-cardio phase (I looked terrible… shocker…)

The cutting-carbs-because-I-thought-that’s-how-it-worked phase (Also looked bad. Felt miserable)

Sound familiar?

It wasn’t until I discovered flexible dieting and progressive strength training that everything finally clicked. 

The scale moved. My body changed. And I realized I didn’t have to choose between liking my food or having a rockin’ bod (thank G)

That’s a big reason I became a coach.

Because I wasted literal years doing the wrong things — and I don’t want that for you.

Umm especially not with a wedding date on the calendar?!

“The problem is I have a BIG sweet tooth,” she said.

I giggled as I told her,

“Same. I eat chocolate every day. If losing weight required giving up sweets, I would have never losth 20+ pounds.”
..thing is, most sweets are either carbs or a mix of carbs and fat.

Avoiding carbs completely doesn’t create weight loss — understanding how carbs work in the body and their purpose informs us of WHEN and HOW MUCH we eat.

Once you understand that, you’ll realize how much time you wasted fearing carbs when they were never the reason the scale wasn’t moving.

You’ve been working out. So why don’t you look any different?

Here’s what your group fitness instructor won’t tell you —

Group workouts are designed for… groups.

…not for your specific your body and goals.

If you want to look toned, that requires two things:
⬆️ Increasing muscle mass
⬇️ Decreasing fat mass

And that shift only happens through progressive overload (which is a specific strength training strategy which doesn’t exist when exercises change literally every class)

It’s not novelty or different or variety or whatever.

But it IS what works 🤷🏽‍♀️

It’s cliché but it really is the definition of, “work smarter, not harder”
