Select Rarities

San Diego

Select Rarities deals with coins and other collectibles and has done so on a full-time, licensed basis since 2004.

Our central focus has traditionally been Morgan Dollars. Flowing Hair, Bust, and Trade Dollars have also entered our inventory. We specialize in prooflike and rare die varieities (VAMs) in the Morgan silver dollar series. Many of the rarest and finest known specimens have been handled by us and placed in the top collections. We also have dealt with more modest offerings and other series, such as Peace dollars, Shield nickels, Half Cents, Colonials, among others.

Fall – PNNA 10/20/2026

We will be set up at the PNNA Fall show in Portland at the end of the month, Oct 30 - Nov 1. This was previously the popular show in Tukwila, WA. It was moved due to Washington State's change in taxation of coins and metals. The new location is excellent. The organizer had done a couple shows there before and we were set up at the first. The room is excellent and the views of the Columbia River and Vancouver, WA are a nice extra.

There is no bourse map yet, but we have booths 7-8 of 131 booths. So we should be near the front by the entrance.

This should be our final show for 2026. First show of 2027 is obviously FUN in Orlando, just after New Years. That will be followed by San Diego Coinarama later that month and Long Beach in early March.

Fall – PNNA Fall This year’s fall coin show will be held October 30-November 1, 2026, at the same location as the spring show (moved to Portland), in cooperation with the Willamette Coin Club. See below for PNNA fall coin show and WCC Portland fall coin show information. The two shows will be combined again i...

The ANA World's Fair of Money has ended. It was a good show, as usual. Like a couple years ago, it was located in Pittsburgh. Next year, it returns to the popular Rosemont location.

Met with many collectors and dealers over the course of the week. Only acquired two pieces for the inventory. But that was fine, as Select is a big part of who we are.

Our next shows are in Southern California. That starts with the Long Beach show, followed immediately by the nearby one in Buena Park. Not nearly as large as the WFoM, Long Beach is a long-standing institution for the community.

If you are in the Pacific Northwest, or like to go there, the PNNA show, formerly in Tukwila, will be held for a few days around Halloween on North Hayden Island in Portland, Oregon. The venue is a new favorite among both dealers and collectors. Due to the Washington State sales tax changes, much of the region's numismatic and bullion trade has concentrated in Oregon, specifically at this show.

I do want to thank the many who stopped by our booth in Pittsburgh, to buy, sell, or just socialize. That us what makes these shows rewarding for all.

Here is a nice High Relief Peace Dollar from the show.

The 2026 ANA World's Fair of Money bourse has sold out. It is 25-29 August in Pittsburgh (David L. Lawrence Convention Center, Fort Duquesne). The largest show of the year. We will be at booth 1619 this time.

Customers and Fellow Dealers who may be affected: the June Buena Park show, 3 weeks away, has been CANCELLED. Don't forget to cancel hotel reservations if they apply to you. In September the Long Beach show is on Wed, Thu, Fri followed immediately by Buena Park on Sat and Sun.

Our next two shows are the San Diego Coinarama (Sat July 18 and Sun July 19) and the ANA World's Fair of Money in Pittsburgh (4th week of August). I will post separately on the latter. Here is the bourse map for Coinarama, with the path to our booth noted. 60 booths plus ANACS in the lobby area.

The FUN show in Orlando and San Diego's Winter Coinarama were excellent shows for us and all the other dealers we spoke with agreed in their cases as well.

Our next show will be the reopened Long Beach Expo, February 18-20 - Wednesday through Friday, no Saturday this time. Stacks Bowers acquired the expo and this initial show will be a smaller one. But it appears to be all coins and many great dealers. (The website bourse map and dealer listings have not been updated for this show, at least not yet.)

We will be set up at a center corner, booth 423. we plan to offer many early American coins, particularly Flowing Hair and Bust dollars, and some very nice Saint Gaudens $20 gold in excellent grades. Might bring some Daniel Carr inventory too.

10/16/2025

All set up at the Las Vegas National Coin Show. Only doing four shows after this: PNNA Portland (Nov), FUN Orlando (Jan), Winter Coinarama San Diego (Feb), and Buena Park (Mar).

Largest offerings of Flowing Hair Dollars, Bust Dollars, Trade Dollars, and Daniel Carr products anywhere. Many key rarities, some available only once in a generation. If you are a collector in Las Vegas, stop by my booth (Select Rarities) at the back corner of the bourse.

Thanks, to all those who came by our booths at the ANA Oklahoma City World's Fair of Money show. Remaining shows where we will be set up for 2025 are:

Buena Park : Sep 13-14, Buena Park, CA (table B7)
Great American Coin and Collectible Show (GACCS) : Sep 25-27 , Rosemont/Chicago, IL (tables 1132-1134)
Denver Coin Expo ; Oct 9-11, Denver, CO (tables 223-225)
The Vegas National : Oct 17-19, Las Vegas, NV
Willamette CC Annual : Nov 16-18, Portland, OR

We will miss the Fall shows in Tukwila and Baltimore. The calendar was just too heavy to squeeze them in. Good shows for us too.

Recommendations? Buena Park is a good show if you are in the SoCal area and is now THE show for the region now that the Long Beach show has ceased. The GACCS show is expected to be a very good one. The Rosemont location is where the ANA World's Fair of Money has been many times and is a favorite among dealers and collectors. This show has the biggest US dealers well represented. If you are looking for those better dates or condition rarities, this is an excellent one for you to potentially locate them. We always like the Denver Expo. It is not a huge show, but (like Tukwila) is a pretty good sized one for a medium regional show and often has fresh material from dealers who don't often set up at the huge national shows.

After the Central States (CSNS) show, we can be found at the Denver Expo, May 1-3. Booth 210-212. URL for the show in first reply. (Map says Fall 2024. It should be the same or roughly the same for this Spring 2025 show.)

04/10/2025

Our next major show is Central States (CSNS) in Schaumberg, IL, April 23rd-26th. Booths 1503-1504. Turn right from the entrance and we are 3 tables in on aisle 15. The Denver show follows that in a week.

02/26/2025

Thanks to everyone who came by our booth at the Long Beach Expo. It was a great show and there were a lot of good conversations at the tables.

Our next one is the Central States (CSNS) show in Schaumberg, IL in April (4/24-26), We have not done that one in years and look forward to it. It looks like we will be skipping the PNNA show in Tukwila this time, because it is too close the CSNS.

Following Central States, we will be at the San Diego Coinarama (7/12-13) and the ANA World's Fair of Money in Oklahoma City (8/19-23).
