Savory Salons
Literary Salons with Pie A place to spend a day with an author, a big time real life author with fancy bestselling books to his or her name. Ever.
You get to say you had lunch with _____. And I bet she/he goes home and says the same about you. It's a whole delightful day where we eat, we laugh, we talk about politics, bad therapy, cats, political nimwits, and we gossip, only we'd never tell you what we gossip about. All secrets are safe in the salon.

It was 96 degrees on Sunday, but what did I do? I baked a fisherman's pie in Art of the Pie's Kate McDermott's zoom class. If you have always dreamed of making a pie, any pie, or learning new tricks, sign up through substack for Kate's classes on zoom or at the pie cottage. She's my pie guru, and she's also fun and shares everything from her heart and kitchen. Here are also a few photos of the fish pies. AND, I went to Catalina Offshore to buy my fish, and I was told a whopping great fish tale. See the photos of the 700lb swordfish they caught on Friday. So, while the rest of you were enjoying ice cream in the heat, I was eating the most delicious savory pie, sweating like I was trapped in a 1957 Chevy truck driving through Phoenix.

Pie.
I'm heading into my kitchen on this very hot day to make a frozen margarita pie in a french meringue crust. It just seems like the pie I should try to create when it will feel so good to try it later. I'll probably have to share it too. It won't keep.

I should start using this page again. I haven’t had a salon in some time. My personal site is public though so check out pie and book stuff on both. I am having a virtual salon on Oct 9 with author Kate McDermott on her new book PIE CAMP. If I can’t serve pie while we talk to the author then why not an author who will do a pie demonstration after the interview. Watch this space for info on the Salon on OCT 9.
Day 5 of NaNoPieMo: Special Savory Pie coming! Heart smart. Back to writing until dinner time!

Ok, People, today is Day 1 of NaNoPieMo. I woke up at 4am scared I won’t make it through and wondering what was I thinking, a pie every day?! Then I remembered the pie workshops I’ve been to with Kate McDermott author of Art of the Pie and two other cookbooks. She’s a pie queen who makes at least one pie a day. So she’s my inspiration. As I was falling asleep last night I got a text message from Linda Ravden, a fellow writer who sent a photo of her gorgeous tomato and goat cheese pie in puff pastry. So I’ve decided that will be my first pie to make for dinner tonight. Stay tuned for more pie news. For now, I need to go write those 1666 words on my new novel idea. Please share, tweet, support, send recipes, ideas, be my friend, help me get through these next 30 pie days!!!! 😳
