Our soul purpose (pardon the pun) when setting out to create our natural skin and personal care products was not just about making money. Not only did we want to offer pure, natural products free of chemicals and heavy metals, but we also wanted to uplift the local communities we work in.
Our workforce is mostly ladies from impoverished, struggling communities. We are proud to uplift these communities by providing jobs. Every product we sell enables us to carry out this important role. Thank you!

The other call is to make an oil-pulling oral cleanse using our ozonated virgin coconut oil. Ozone has incredible antibacterial properties and is used by dentists to clean the instruments that go into your mouth. Oil pulling is an ancient Ayurvedic practice that is only becoming popular in Western medicine.

Our hand-made artisanal soaps are selling so well that we have made a call to manufacture a "hotel-sized" version for guest houses, lodges and travelers. They will make a perfect, inexpensive gift too.

Our ladies at our factory in beautiful Tofo Beach, Mozambique, are in full swing, grating the wild-harvested, hand-picked coconuts we purchase from the locals. The fresh coconut meat is placed in envelopes and then pressed to squeeze the last little bits of precious oil from it. The raw oil then undergoes two processes before being mixed with our other natural ingredients to make our CocoSolo products.
At no point in any stage of making our quadrifuged, ozonated VCO is heat introduced, unlike mass-market, supermarket products, which are often full of chemicals and synthetic ingredients.

So what is the genesis of our story?

CocoSolo has it's earliest roots with the Cochrane brothers, Art and Steve, who set out to make the finest virgin coconut oil on the planet using wild-harvested, hand-picked Mozambican coconuts.
After many years of refining the process, the brothers Cochrane had perfected the art of making the product, but didn't really have any outlet for it beyond selling it to a few high-end spas and massage therapists.
At that point, Steve reached out to his friend, Jay Volek, a successful audio/video distributor who was also interested in natural coconut oil. After some research, Jay advised that the best market for their amazing coconut oil was the natural cosmetics and personal care markets - clean beauty. Steve agreed and told Jay to move forward with whatever Jay thought was best. In his words, "Jay, you tell us what to make, and we'll make it. We'll make it, you market and sell it". And so CocoSolo was born as Jay used his marketing and business skills to create and strategise the right direction for the brand to take.

This is beautiful Tofo Beach in Inhambane province in Mozambique, where our mini coconut oil producing plant is based. We consider our pure VCO the finest in the world because our coconuts are wild harvested and hand picked by the locals, and then cold-processed and quadrifuged without any heat being introduced at any stage. Finally, we infuse our VCO with oxygen-rich ozone to be mixed as the primary hero ingredient to make our natural cosmetics and personal care products.
There's a perfectly good reason our tagline is :

“Growing up in the hot, tropical climate of Durban, South Africa in the 70’s and 80’s, we kids were either playing a game of rugby or tennis, or otherwise surfing and tanning on one of the many stunning beaches. We were always encouraged to be outside in nature by our parents, and we did what we were told.
I was one of those kids either sweating it out on the tennis courts of Durban or the football grounds around the city. I liked the beach and body boarding and surfing too, not to mention Durban’s hot beach babes.
I was always coming home sunburnt as all hell and often badly so. My clever mum knew exactly what to do and would apply Fridge or Freeze as it was originally called to my roasted skin. It was the only after sun gel that took away the sting of the sun and left me feeling cool and comfortable.
I was shattered when it was taken off the market and it has always been in the back of my mind to make a natural equivalent. Guess what? We’re doing a Coco•Solo one called CocoFreeze by Coco•Solo by removing and replacing any of the synthetic ingredients and replacing them with natural ones including our hero ingredient, ozonated coconut oil, as well as our organic aloe vera and a bit of bee propolis.
I cannot wait to introduce our CocoFreeze after sun gel to the South African and American markets. It’s bound to be a major success”.

How do we manage to make the finest virgin coconut oil on the planet in our mini factory in Mozambique.
Well, besides buying only the finest, hand picked, wild harvested coconuts from the locals at a fair price, we also apply science. In fact, we consider all our products a result of fusing nature and science, together with the love and care our ladies infuse in all our formulations.

A very important process which differentiates Coco•Solo from traditional cosmetics and our competitors, is that we run our cold pressed oil through 4 centrifuges (we call it quadrifuging!) to produce the least viscous VCO in the planet. We extract all irritating particles and metals as a result.

As with cold pressing and ozonation, quadrifuging does not inject any heat into the process, ensuring that the oil maintains its original properties.

Our primary hero ingredient in all our products is without doubt our ozonated virgin coconut oil (VCO). So what on earth is ozone, and why is it important for natural cosmetics and personal care products used topically.

Ozonated virgin coconut oil is a therapeutic compound created by bubbling ozone gas through pure coconut oil, transforming it into a thick, gel-like substance that releases oxygen directly into tissue. It acts as a powerful antimicrobial, antioxidant, and anti-inflammatory agent, accelerating skin healing, treating infections, and reducing inflammation.

What is Ozonation?

Ozonation is the process of infusing ozone gas into oils (such as coconut or olive oil). This chemical reaction produces ozonides and peroxides, which are stable compounds that allow the ozone to be stored and used topically.

How it Works

Infusion: Medical-grade ozone is bubbled through virgin coconut oil for an extended period, changing its consistency from liquid to a thicker, shelf-stable gel.

Release of Oxygen: When applied to the skin, the ozonides break down, releasing oxygen and reactive oxygen species (ROS) into the tissue.

Mechanism of Action: This process destroys bacteria, viruses, and fungi by damaging their cell walls, while simultaneously promoting skin cell regeneration and reducing inflammation. Our ozonated face oil has the highest PV value of our products and will leave your face looking vibrant and beautiful.
