LJAS has officially moved back to where it all started! During covid the decision was made to partner with a medical office, but fast forward 2 years and the need is no longer there. Located in stunning downtown La Jolla, this Acne Room is the largest and most beautiful treatment room yet! As an added bonus- the ocean, boutiques, fine and casual dining, coffee shops and art galleries are all within walking distance. Lastly, LJAS has also upgraded from celluma to a stronger, more intense and effective Illuminate LED add on which takes only 5 minutes to complete! Looking forward to seeing you in the new clinic!

"This is something I have wanted to post about for a long time, but have been genuinely afraid to. Sharing my biggest insecurity with the world, for everyone to see is terrifying. But there is a comfort in knowing you are not alone, and if I can be that for someone then it is all worth it. So, here we go...

I struggled with acne since I was a teenager, come to find out recently I have PCOS which has likely played a big role in my acne journey. I have been to several dermatologists who just wanted to put me on the pill (which I believe is just a mask for symptoms, whether that is for acne or PCOS) and/or keep me on antibiotics (which destroyed my gut) for years.

I have even been on a couple of courses of Accutane— one of which I had to stop after a month because it caused such severe back pain I could barely get out of bed, let alone train towards my competitive goals.

Nothing worked, and I felt like no one wanted to solve the root cause of my problem. I felt defeated, and guilty for being mentally impacted by a problem that to others seemed vain. If you have ever dealt with acne, you understand.

When I began using products in February of 2018, provided by Christina Silva at , that was the first time I felt like someone was willing to really help me. She coached me through things like ingredients, makeup products and the impact that diet can have on my skin— things that dermatologists had always brushed off as they hurried me out of their office with a prescription. Christina didn't make any outlandish promises, but we put together a personalized regimen to get my skin to a place where I felt confident going into the swim event at the 2018 CrossFit Games without a stitch of makeup on my face. It may sound silly, but that was a big milestone for me.
