11/9/1953 the world’s most beautiful, bourgeois, boisterous, beloved human being to ever grace this earth was born… the 15 years, 10 months, and 35 days i was blessed to spend nearly every single day of with you were not nearly enough.. but though cut short, the time i had with you taught me everything that has developed me into the woman i am today. you are my motivation, my reason, my voice, my passion… i got locs to be like you, i started to be social to be like you lol… i genuinely just want to live up to the woman you were. if i could make even 10% of the impact you made on this world, I’ll know I’ve done something incredible with my life.

6 years ago, when i was inspired to start what was formerly known as Eléganté Beauty, all I could think about was you. you would have been so incredibly proud to watch me start a business from the ground up, make money off of my own talent, and genuinely succeed in something I’m passionate about. i took years off, but i was always drawn to relaunching… something inside me told me ‘don’t give up’ and i know for a fact that was you…

Eleven9 Beauty is a tribute to the courageous woman who made me who i am today. your birthday has been a sad day for far too long—this is our 10th birthday without you. now I’m not saying i won’t still cry every single November— but at least now, i have a reason to smile. your birthday, your favorite color, now my namesake.
