The Salon Front Desk Associate Role

As a part of the Naza operations team, you'll specialize in making sure our space runs like a well-oiled machine. Most importantly, you'll make sure that every member of our community feels valued, cared for, and respected.

As an early member of the team in our very first shop, you'll have the unique opportunity to help us build procedures, infrastructure, and best practices while shaping the direction of the team and the salon space.

Here are just a few of the things you'll be doing:

* Preparing Stations for Appointments: You'll make sure that each station is prepared for the appointment including making sure the stylists' carts are equipped with the necessary tools, documents, and extensions.
* Greeting Guests And Explaining Products and Services: As the face of a new type of salon, you'll develop a great knack for explaining our menu of services specializing in coily, kinky, afro-textured hair and the products that we have for use and sale in our retail space. You will be bubbly, enthusiastic, and joyful in creating clients! You'll also prep our complimentary mango mimosas and mocktails :)

* Maintaining our gorgeous space: You'll help maintain the vibes of the space by adjusting lighting, shades, and music throughout the day as needed. You'll be sweeping up any loose hair around each station the moment it falls and making sure the space remains spotless.

* Facilitating Event Logistics Flawlessly: You'll support the ex*****on of events (2+ per week) that build our community and bring people together (once we are able to gather again!).

About Naza

We are a new braid/protective styling salon in San Francisco for women with coily, kinky, afro-textured hair -- we've got an amazing team, 2000 sq ft of salon space, and a back patio!

We're especially interested in hiring folks who have coily, kinky, afro-textured hair and understand the social/emotional nuances that come with it. We'd love the folks representing our products and services to be able to give personal experience-based opinions and recommendations to our guests.

We offer styles that can be finished in 4-hours or less including crochet braids, individual large box braids, twists, cornrow styles, and silk press -- and to do all of that seamlessly, we need a fantastic operations team to make everything work and provide a fantastic experience for everyone that walks through the doors.

We're not simply a salon and styling space, but rather a community gathering place centering and celebrating the needs of black and brown women -- this is reflected in the services that we offer, the design of the space, and the programming that we facilitate. As the Assistant Manager at Naza, you will be a major contributor in creating an extraordinary experience for every single person that touches the Naza brand at Valencia Street, both internally and externally.

Tactically, this means that you will assist the General Manager with daily operations, communication, facilities, and financials of our Valencia salon. There is no detail or task that is too small for you -- you are the host, planner, organizer, and executor of excellence in the space.

Most importantly, you will specialize in making sure that the team feels valued and respected while creating an environment that empowers them to do their best work. You will set a positive and productive tone to each day, ensuring that each customer and team member is thriving in their experience.

You’ll jump right into training for the immediate needs of the space including assisting with customer success/communications, inventory, facilities, maintaining safety standards and cleanliness, single-unit store management, and recruiting.

This is a full-time salaried position reporting directly to the General Manager and CEO.

Here are just a few of the things you'll be doing:

Running Daily Operations: You’ll manage the daily operations of the salon, from open to close and everything in between by building, enforcing, and documenting protocols for operational success and efficiency.

Client Customer Service, and Booking Management: You'll ensure amazing customer experiences through client communications via phone, text, and email, provide high-touch customer service for each and every appointment, and troubleshoot and customer feedback.

Team Leadership: You will guide the team to succeed by enforcing protocols, providing feedback and support, assisting with scheduling and timecards, and actively participating in team meetings and appreciation celebrations.

Manage Ordering and Inventory: You’ll ensure that Naza is equipped with everything it needs to run like a well-oiled machine. This includes overseeing weekly orders of hair, tools, products, and building supplies, as well as monthly inventory counts.

Facilities and Maintenance: Spaces need love and care - you will take lead on scheduling preventative maintenance, shop upkeep, and scheduling contractors to fix and upkeep the physical space.

Managing Chair Vacancy: You’ll develop and execute plans for bringing in new clients, retaining our regulars, increasing retail sales, and making sure that our book of clients is full.
