What this drug is
* A new pill (VDPHL01) from Veradermics
* It’s oral minoxidil (same ingredient as Rogaine), but extended-release
Results (this is why it’s getting attention)
* Hair growth: ~30–33 hairs/cm² vs ~7 for placebo
* 79%–86% of patients saw improvement vs ~36% placebo
* Worked within ~2 months
Why it matters
* Could be the first new oral baldness drug in ~30 years
* Designed to reduce side effects (heart rate, blood pressure issues) seen with regular oral minoxidil
Reality check
* Still not FDA approved yet
* More Phase 3 data needed (including women)
Bottom line
Stronger than expected results. Real hair growth, not just slowing loss. Still early, but this is the first thing in a while that looks clinically meaningful.
