Preparing for a smell session here at the perfumery, with one of my favorite human. 🌱🌸👃🏻
No, she’s not an Egyptian God, we have the feeling we were both Priestesses in Egypt during the reign of Hathor, in a previous life.

Just finished hosting a workshop I developed, based on the making of Kyphi in Egypt. It’s so wonderful to observe the awareness that percolates up as I take individuals through the process of making a “plant” fragrance with intention. The class, which has evolved over time, contains tangents of alchemy, herbalism and aromatherapy, along with his and her story, geography, music and so much more! I’m realizing it encapsulates all he threads of my artistic career and explorations into consciousness.

Anointing with Chaparral and listening to Ride Like the wind, by Christopher Cross
🌱🪵🪶🐴
It is the night, my body’s weak
I’m on the run, no time to sleep
I’ve got to ride, ride like the wind
To be free again
And I’ve got such a long way to go
To make it to the border of Mexico
So, I’ll ride like the wind, ride like the wind
I was born the son of a lawless man
Always spoke my mind with a gun in my hand
Lived nine lives, gunned down ten
Gonna ride like the wind
And I’ve got such a long way to go
To make it to the border of Mexico
So, I’ll ride like the wind, ride like the wind
Gonna ride like the wind
Accused and tried and told to hang
I was nowhere in sight when the church bells rang
Never was the kind to do as I was told
Gonna ride like the wind before I get old
It is the night, my body’s weak
I’m on the run, no time to sleep
I’ve got to run, ride like the wind
To be free again
And I’ve got such a long way to go
To make it to the border of Mexico
So, I’ll ride like the wind, ride like the wind
And I’ve got a long way to go
To make it to the border of Mexico
So, I’ll ride like the wind, ride like the wind
Gonna ride like the wind

New essay at Wandering the Wonderland where I once more explore Philip Pullman’s world, in this case The Secret Commonwealth through Lyra’s evolving journey.
This time, I dive into the spaces between reason and imagination, uncovering a deeper perception of reality where the mystical and the rational coexist, inviting us to embrace a more fluid, ineffable understanding of the world. 🌌📚

Two pomegranates at the perfumery evoking the underworld and the Goddess Persephone.
To me, this scene smells of tart fruit with hints of warm resin, leaning into a floriental.
I’m curious, do you smell, more fruit, resin or something else?

Driving to the Farmers Market this morning I realized “honesty is currency”, probably one of the rarest, if we are to observe our culture.
