Fall is officially here and we’ll be in this transition for a few weeks.
According to Ayurveda and other traditional medicine systems, this is one of two extra-sensitive portals in the year. They’re also times of opportunity.
At the fall and spring equinox, the elements are shifting more than usual, and your body and mind need extra support to make a smooth transition to the next season.
This is a super important time to lean into grounding, vata-soothing practices. It’s also an optimal time to cleanse the body of accumulation from the previous season and fortify yourself for the seasons to come.
These aren’t just “shoulds” (I dislike shoulds!). These are non-negotiables for most of us if we want to feel well.
Here’s a quick guide to help you prioritize:
01: Abhyanga / self oil massage
02: Hot drinks and warm, cooked foods.
🫖Upon waking, drink a large cup of warm water and gently massage your belly in circular, clockwise strokes to encourage elimination.
🍲Enjoy cooked foods such as soups, stews, and sautéed and baked dishes with moisture and ghee or olive oil. Avoid raw foods, such as salads and smoothies.
Sip fresh ginger root, cumin, coriander, and fennel tea to support digestion.
03: Moderate exercise, bundle up outside.
🌳Prioritize Brisk walking & moderate hiking, and fluid movement forms that incorporate breath and movement. Moderate strength-training is also good.
In vata season, it’s best to avoid fast, intense, or heavy exercise.
04: REST more
🛌 Early to bed and early to rise - aim for at least 8 hours. During the day, try 20-minute afternoon cat naps, Yoga nidra anytime for a deep rest and reset. Or simply recline, put your feet up, close your eyes and breath for 10 minutes.
05: Do a cleanse or reset.

It’s that time of year again, we’re moving into fall where vāta dosha is predominant for a while, and the air is cooler and drier.
In this seasonal junction, if you don’t take specific action, it’s common to feel dried out, harried, spacy and overwhelmed. Seasonal junctions are the perfect time for gentle cleansing, grounding, and nourishing, which helps you feel stable, grounded, and ready for what’s next.

With the coming of spring in the northern hemi, we begin an outward, expansive shift as we move into longer, warmer, windier days.
I personally get an upward rush at this time and either start running around multitasking but not getting anything done or get so over-activated it spills over into anxiety, inability to rest, and sleeplessness. Does that sound familiar at all?
The body’s channels are beginning to open and flow more freely BUT, along with that comes the tendency toward seasonal allergies, lymphatic stagnation, mucous and inflammation. It’s important to not only lighten up the diet, but to ground that upward moving energy that can quickly feel overwhelming.
At this time we have the fab opportunity to more easily cleanse the channels and balance all 3 doshas. It’s also an opportunity to nourish and strengthen yourself for the rest of the year.
For me, nothing works better for feeling comfortable in my body and becoming more still, than balancing out the daily highs and lows through a set of practices and rituals.
It allows me to forgo the reliance on extra caffeine to get through the day, and lie down for breathwork or go for a walk, rather than pushing against my body’s need for a break.
The 2nd week of April, I’m offering Nourish & Reset - a gentle cleanse and nourishment for body and soul.
For these 8 days I support you in resetting habits and taking more time for yourself.
You can take it slow and easy or go deeper - per your capacity.
Join me for the whole process, including 2 live sessions that include the hows and whys of the practices we’re doing, breathwork, and a live yoga and somatic alchemy practice session with
