Orbital 360 Testimonials
Case Studies:
Current anecdotal evidence of the rehab capabilities of the Orbital 360 has already been extremely promising. The following outlines several individual experiences to date:
1. 77 year old Cecile had been in Physical Therapy for 5 months with a frozen shoulder and had gained only 85° of unassisted shoulder flexion. After 3 ten minute sessions on the Orbital 360, her shoulder flexion went to 145°. In her own words, 3 sessions on the Orbital 360 helped her more than the 5 months of traditional physical therapy.
2. Jean, a female in her 60's, had her first Orbital 360 experience in February of 2004 in conjunction with severe hip pain and stiffness. Three weeks of pain had prevented any activities including just walking and although Chiropractic treatments were temporarily relieving, the pain was ongoing. A single 10 minute session on the Orbital 360, which focused on the affected hip created the first complete pain-free experience in over a month. Jean walked around a shopping mall for 3 hours following her Orbital 360 session, pain free. Jean became the first Orbital 360 client and was so impressed by the ability of the product to change her body, she invested on the company.
"I am still using the Orbital 360, 10 years later. As I have aged, my arthritis has increased and I experience frequent pain in my hip. I use my Orbital 360, 5 days a week for 15 minutes a day and am still able work through the pain until it disappears. It is my lifesaver and I am of the firm belief that this is the finest piece of exercise equipment that a mature person can’t be without" writes Jean
3.The Orbital 360’s potential effectiveness as a superior combatant of Osteoporosis has been illustrated by Lynn, a 63-year-old female who has had a significant increase in the bone density in her hips since she has been using The Orbital 360. A bone density exam taken 2 years ago as compared to one taken in June of 2005 showed an increase of about 10% in the hips. This is even after 4 years of consistent weight-bearing exercise that hadn’t shown any additional changes for the 2 years prior. The newest reading was taken after about 14 months of consistent use of the Orbital 360on a 3x peer week basis.
4. James, a 62 year old patient with low back pain who had Lumbar spine fusion some 20 years ago and continued to suffer from constant low back pain and stiffness, had sought treatment when additional complaints includes upper back and shoulder pain. After examination of his body mechanics, it was clear that the loss of motion in his lower back had affected the spinal mechanics of his mid and upper back and his shoulder as well. After using the Orbital 360 for several weeks, not only did his shoulder and upper back pain resolve significantly, but his lower back range of motion improved to the point where his pain level became intermittent and even absent at times. One of the most noticeable changes was his ability to rotate his spine, which he reported could not be done for several years.
5. Bill, a retired naval officer who has been a boat captain and yacht manager for many years presented with low back pain. He reported that his work required having him spend a lot of time maintaining the boats engines and such and he would spend extended periods of time lying down bent in cramped quarters. After using the Orbital for about 6 weeks, he reported and significant decrease in pain as well as an increased ability to work longer without low back pain ensuing.
6. Susan, a 53 year old Pharmacist was suffering from right shoulder pain for over 1 year. During the year, she had tried several therapies to manage the condition including 2 cortisone injections, massage therapy, physical therapy and even acupuncture. The condition became worse over time despite the various interventions and she was no longer able to move her arm to play tennis or swim, which was her choice for exercise. It also interrupted her sleep as she would often be awoken by pain. After combining spinal and soft tissue manipulation with the Orbital 360 in a 6 week treatment plan, here pain free range of motion increased 100%. She is now back to playing tennis and swimming and has full function in the right shoulder.
7. Chris, a veteran of the war in Afghanistan, was injured when an RPG hit his post. He suffered a head neck and back and shoulder injury in the incident. He presented with significant left shoulder, upper back and low back pain and stiffness. He had been injured over 1 year ago and received no rehabilitative care for his injuries. One of the most significant symptoms that he reported was a feeling of “disconnect” from his left shoulder. During his first session with the Orbital 360, there was a marked difference in his ability to move his left shoulder versus his right. The left shoulder had an improper mechanical pattern as compared to the right. The Orbital 360 made him aware of this discrepancy which allowed him to work each side individually. After only about 4 sessions, he was able to recreate a more symmetrical pattern of movement on his left side. Not only was his pain and stiffness significantly reduced but he felt “reconnected” to his left shoulder which ultimately helped his entire condition. In fact, he began boxing again for the first time since he had returned from the war.

About Michael Whitis Wellness 360
Where it all began.
In the summer of 1967, in the small suburban town of Mason, Ohio, a young 13 year old boy, Michael Whitis, (with an inquiring mind and passion for creativity in the exercise world) came to light when he and his older brother fashioned Olympic free-weights from old manhole covers. This started him building his own commercial exercise gym. Even at that young phase in his life, he knew his future would be in exercise and fitness technology.

Between 1972 and 1977, Michael’s career transcended in management of fitness clubs in Ohio, Jacksonville, Florida and finally, Dallas, Texas

In the early 70’s Michael became heavily involved in body building and the use of steroids. It was during that time that Michael had a body building accident that landed him in the hospital for rehabilitation.

During rehabilitation and feeling sorry for himself, Michael had his first epiphany. After removing a rubber band that was holding his mail together, he slipped it over his thumb and forefinger and began using it as resistance, to exercise his hand. This led him to the discovery that he could use synthetic rubber bands (later known and used as therapy bands) for exercise and rehabilitation.

These bands became part of a larger plan than exercising fingers - they became the focal point of a new exercise machine that he designed, to exercise the whole body, thus creating the first portable exercise device allowing one to do everything that a commercial gym offered, but using only one device, the size of an ironing board (folded and unfolded). This device, called the Space Gym, was the first of its kind. Today, therapy bands are used around the world both commercially and domestically for rehab and resistance training.

It was also during this recovery period that Michael, while at a nearby swimming lake and beach, was fortunate enough to see a beautiful young woman, with a long scar down her right leg from her hip to her knee. Shortly after, Michael met that same woman at a party, where he learned that she needed a new hip replacement. It was then that Michael became determined to take responsibility for her rehabilitation to walk again. In preparation for that rehabilitation, Michael paid a visit to her Surgeon to gain insight in to what the operation entailed, as well as what she would be going through. The surgery involved the placement of a titanium ball and socket (which he was able to examine) that was to replace her own hip joint. He was permitted to witness the surgery which was to have a significant impact on his future and a profound effect on the path that Michael’s life would be taking some 30 years later.

In the mid to late 1970's Michael became an accredited and certified trainer. He was a graduate of the first training certification class that was conducted by Chicago Health Racquet and Sports Association.

During that same time frame, Michael moved to Dallas, where he would work in his last fitness club, owned by a highly respected and well known fitness pioneer and wrestler in the 70's, Ray “Thunder” Stern, with whom Michael worked extensively.
See more on Ray Stern at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ray_Stern
Under Ray’s guidance and tuition, Michael gained a wealth of knowledge about the fitness world, positioning him for his next venture - creating and inventing fitness technologies, to be used not only for fitness but also for therapeutic benefits.

Michael also worked with other renowned and respected Body Building and Fitness Professionals, namely Joe Gold (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joe_Gold )
and Armand Tanny, (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Armand_Tanny), both leaders in their fields. .

In 1979, Michael completed his work on the Space Gym which he used to train many celebrities, including the late Larry Hagman, Linda Gray, Don Johnson, Rod Steiger, Brian Wilson, Dr Eugene Landy, (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eugene_Landy) Dr John C Lilly, (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_C._Lilly ) and many others in the early 1980's.

Michael's technology has been seen in every fitness location throughout the world for the past 35 years and has provided the foundation for all elastic band technology, including the therapy resistance bands. Michael is also credited with inventing innovative exercise equipment such as the Slingshot and Stepski which were full upper and lower body modalities, each on one exercise device.
Fast forward 30 years to 2000 from the moment Michael met his inspiration for future technology.

During this time, Michael was living in Penneconda India, studying under Swami Kaleshwar, while residing at his Ashram. On one of his outings to Hampi, while floating in a basket boat on the Ganges, Michael had his second epiphany, which freed his mind from all traditional fitness equipment and training methodologies.
Michael reverted to the memory of that young woman he had met in the 70’s, whose hip transplant, using the titanium ball and socket, he had witnessed. He allowed the truth to sink in, believing he had discovered something that would be of far greater benefit to the fitness world than any traditional linear fitness equipment that has ever been created
That memory immediately triggered the concept, that a mechanical ball and socket joint, implanted within a human being, could be translated into a new design of a similar mechanical device, built for use outside the body, to mimic real life, human, 3D, rotational movement patterns, (with the addition of friction resistance for strengthening, as well as stretching and cardio-all concurrently). Michael had finally freed his mind of all existing traditional linear, gravity fed exercise apparatuses - allowing for new creative ideas and visions, outside the realm of traditional equipment, to ensure a safe, effective and efficient rotational exercise apparatus. From this, grew the first, fully rotational exercise device, with constant, consistent friction resistance that has now been proven to provide not only safe, effective exercise ability, but also successful therapeutic benefits for injuries such as shoulder injuries, hip pain, tennis elbow, carpel tunnel and numerous other joint injuries.
