This time of year always has our hair and scalp feeling extra dry and in need of some TLC. So here are some easy ways to combat that:

1. Avoid hot showers!
I love a hot shower as much as the next person but the hot water can dry out your skin and also your hair! Not to mention it’s not great for your color.

2. Use a deep conditioning mask!
Using a deep conditioning mask or even hair oiling once every 4-6 times you wash your hair can add in that moisture we’re really craving.

3. Dry your hair!
I know it seems counterintuitive and contradictory as I love air-drying my own hair but hear me out: our hair is at its weakest point when it’s wet. The cold, winter air keeps it wet for longer and having our hair damp for extended periods of time can cause damage. Also, having a damp scalp can cause irritation, scalp dryness, and can be a breeding ground for bacteria and buildup potentially leading to other scalp issues.

4. Use a leave-in treatment!
Leave-in treatments help combat damage and can add moisture. Plus! Many leave-in treatments can tame frizz and help with static.

5. Stay hydrated!
Pretty self explanatory!
Hydrated body=hydrated skin=hydrated scalp=hydrated hair!

What else do you do to take care of your hair during the winter months??
