We have 20 paid interns coming to girls Camp!
We went to see the Copper Queen Mine. The historic Copper Queen Mine operated from 1877 to 1975, producing millions of ounces of gold and silver alongside billions of pounds of copper.

We went to see camp Naco. Camp Naco is the last surviving adobe encampment built during the Mexican Revolution. Established originally as a tent city in 1910 and constructed as a permanent base in 1919, the site was manned by the 9th and 10th Cavalry Regiments and the 25th Infantry of the Buffalo Soldiers.

The Southwest Buffalo Soldiers Association brought their very own Demetria Warren to us for intern training! Demetria did a phenomenal job of showing the girls what it felt and looked like to be Cathay Williams in 1866.
Cathay Williams was the First African-American Woman To Enlist In The Army and the only female member of the Buffalo Soldiers!

The Southwest Buffalo Soldiers Association brought their very own Cathay Williams to our intern training! It’s so important to teach not only Black history to our interns but it is especially important to teach the Black history found right here in Sierra Vista, AZ!
