[audio on🔈] Throwback to one of my favorite platinum transformations 🤍 formula below 👇
👉 9 bowls of lightener
👉 2 bowls of color
👉 2 treatments
👉 Bond builder
👉 A fresh haircut & finish.
Total time: 5 hours from start to finish with @megan.scissorhands assisting me to create this WHITEOUT ❄️.
Steps & formulas below:
Step 1: Chop it. Remove any excess length that you don’t plan on keeping to save time/product. You’ll be able to finesse and finish the haircut after lightening.
Step 2: Off-scalp lightening. We used back to back foils of @goldwellus’s #Oxycurplatin with built in bond builder + extra bond builder + 3%-9%+ lotion. Applied 1/2” away from the scalp.
Step 3: On-scalp lightening. We pulled the foils & went back with Oxycur & 6% lotion on the scalp. There were still some warm areas at the ends, so this was a perfect time to also reapply lightener to the warm areas.
Step 4: After processing, we did a full overlay of #Goldwell #Topchic in 2/3 10V 1/3 10P, like 1.5” squeeze of P mix + 3% lotion. Yes, permanent color, not a demi. When going all-over platinum, I prefer to use permanent color as a toner for a more even end result. The ammonia in permanent color creates just enough of a shift in the remaining pigments in the hair to blend out any areas of uneven lift. I do not do this on highlighted hair since that would result in an unintentional base break, but for my platinums? Absolutely.
Step 5: After treating the hair one more time, we finished & refined her haircut to keep her strands healthy & beautiful 🤍
Side note: It took me only 5 hours to do this because she had no previous dark color (she had previous Pulp Riot pastels in her hair, but that’s it.) and I was working with an assistant. When breaking through old, dark haircolor, a project like this could take upwards of 10-12+ hours and then some.
