This was the morning of my first time using this technique. I was soooooo nervous because my hair was so fresh and beautiful lol. I have been doing this technique 3-4X a week for 6 months now.

After this initial time, my silk press stayed silky for 2 WHOLE weeks. Whenever it would revert a little, I could just tie it down and my hair silked right back out again. That smoothing treatment plus this technique are two of the best things that have happened to me lol.

I LOVEEE a flipover (going into one very very soon) but I also love to have OPTIONS.

Eventually, I found out I like the curls better if I use a flexi rod on the ends, so that became my go to in place of the knots. Every morning I undo my nightly wrap (4 flexi rods, a net and a silk scarf), then I put my hair in 2 ponytails high enough to not get in the way of me lifting weights, tie my edges TIGHT then head out of the door.

In November 2025 I did an Amika Smoothing treatment on my daughter. We have done a few different styles since then such as a few silk presses, braids for a few weeks, and natural styles. With the smoothing treatment, her styles last so much longer, her hair bounces back quickly from humidity (IF it’s affected), and her hair is getting healthier 🙌🏽.
