Mary/Maryam: A Woman of Two Traditions

A presentation and discussion on the important role of Mary/Maryam, mother of Jesus, in the Catholic and Islamic traditions. Speakers are Dr. Kawkab Shishani, Associate Professor of Nursing at WSU and Fr. Patrick Baraza, Ph.D at Gonzaga University. Co-sponsored by Bridges not Walls, with Muslims for Community Action and Support and Gonzaga University Mission and Ministry. At the GU School of Law, Room 143.

Luminous explores the studio glass movement that has found international prominence in the Pacific Northwest. Partnering with Tacoma’s Museum of Glass and Portland-based collector George Stroemple, the MAC presents its first all-glass art exhibition. Thirty-three international artists working in glass, including Dale Chihuly, are featured. Chihuly has been a leader in the studio glass movement for five decades, exploring new and old techniques and pushing the boundaries of contemporary art. Feb. 23-June 23; Tue-Sun from 10 am-5 pm.
