I prefer using Get A Grip as my base because it’s super adhesive, has flexibly for the natural nail, and it’s HEMA-free.
I’m OBSESSED with new Sculpt It hard gel because of its strength! I’ve never used a hard gel that is this strong AND self levels.
After building the whole nail, you can refine the top and free-edge if needed, but it self levels so well, you can often just go straight in with color.

I’m OBSESSED with the new viscosity of Build It from . It’s thinner and so much easier to use!
With the previous formula I was applying to 2 nails at a time with the tick-tok method, but application was still a little slow.
Now I do one nail at a time using the swipe method and it’s sped me up SO MUCH! Why? Because it self levels into place instantly. Sometimes I don’t even use my detail brush on the sides.
Application tips:
🚫 don’t use a slip layer if itself levels too quickly for you
⏩ when you flip one finger over to bring in the apex, go to the next hand and apply build it to one finger. Flip that one over, and go back to check the first one. Flash cure in the lamp. Check the next finger, flash cure in the lamp. Go back to the first hand and repeat.

Photo dump of some sets I’ve done in the last little bit, even back in the fall 🙈 the struggle is real!
Once you let yourself get out of the habit of posting, it’s REAL hard to jump back on that train! Partly because I got out of the routine, partly out of laziness, and partly the battle of comparison.
🤷🏻♀️ What do you do? Tell yourself to knock it off and just show up (cue the anxiety…). I see flaws in every single one of these sets, some of them small and some of them big. Too bad Melissa, you’re posting them anyway 😅
