That said, I still prefer a really minimal approach that lets the skin show vs covering. That’s mainly possible because of good daily care and Photonic’s lovely skin perfecting effects.
Now, if you know of a natural hair product that can truly fight the St Louis summer humidity please let me know. So far I haven’t found anything that is truly frizz proof and not heavily synthetic.

The Missouri Botanical Garden’s Green Living Festival celebrates its 25th anniversary this year! Celebrate sustainable living with us on Saturday, July 11 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

A 2025 analysis of the 150 top selling sunscreens on Amazon determined that nearly half of those labeled “mineral only” contained sunscreen “doping” compounds like butyloctyl salicylate.
We’re calling bullsh*t on this practice. It’s an industry-wide problem that is affecting UVA protection levels, creating skin irritation, deceiving consumers, and potentially creating long term health risks that people are actively trying to avoid. 🛑
People’s trust in cosmetic companies is low because of issues exactly like this. 🫠
Butyloctyl salicylate is structurally and actively similar to octisalate, yet it’s not regulated for use in your sunscreens in the USA, even as an “inactive” ingredient.
How much is used? You’ll never know. 😑
(It’s limited to 5% in the EU and Australia but not in Canada, South Korea, or the USA)
People buy mineral sunscreens because they’re trying to choose something safer and gentler. Instead they’re getting a whole bunch of loopholes, guesswork, and excuses by brands.
