I have officially closed down my business, I do plan on continuing my business, when I find something closer to home.

To all the inquirers. I am marking the sale of my business as pending, if all goes well, the salon will have a new owner on Dec 1. Thank you to those who have supported me the last 6 years. My joint health just can’t keep up with the demands of owning a business.

Have you ever wondered who you're helping when you support a BtKR fundraiser?

It's kittens like Jupiter.

One day this sweet boy was happy go lucky and the next not so much. His foster mom jumped into action notifying leaders that something was very wrong with this little boy. He was gulping for air and not able to keep food down. This started his vet journey that lead him all the way up to Richmond! He was seen at Virginia Veterinary Centers.

They performed tests and kept him over night. When he left the next day, several possibilities had been ruled out. But still no real diagnosis. He was started on anti-virus meds for 21 days. And appeared to be on the mend.

He had a vet appointment this morning, locally. The swelling in his Esophagus has drastically reduced! Every day he is feeling a little better. He will go back in 2 weeks for repeat x-rays just to ensure the inflammation is gone. If you're wondering...the diagnosis was Calicivirus

His trip to Richmond cost $3,515.45. That's just from one vet. His care could cost over $5000. This same foster had another baby that went in for spay, hernia repair, and an eye removal this morning. And we also have a kitten that appears to have been thrown from a car that needed multiple surgeries to fix the damage done to her mouth.

We need your help to continue to provide much needed medical care to our foster kittens/cats.

When you make a purchase from our fundraiser this month. Pampered Chef will donate 20% back to the rescue. Your donation will help us continue providing these kittens with the medical care they need.

Thank you in advance for your purchase ❤️

So later today, 8:45 AM, I have my second f/u post surgery, 6 weeks!!! And at 10 AM, i have pt. PT Crystal and her PT supervisor say I am doing beautiful! They helped thru some tough times, helping with the anxiety bc my pain management, hearing/feeling something like a snap in my knee, and working on ROM, range of motion. To be somewhat normal or the new normal.
Since my appts are early, so I decided to do a trail run. I had to move my Wilson couple from Feb 11th to March 12. I took soooo long on their January appts! That is at 1 PM and hopefully be finished by 2, try to be better at time management, lol.
I wanted to create a salon experience unlike most salons. I have worked in quota speed and f your health, get your 10+ haircuts in your 6 hour shift. I worked in slower paced salons, which I loved, but they all wanted quantity services done with lots of quality. I wanted to bless people with relationship over speed thru every service. As with all small businesses, you learn as you go, learning from mistakes and poor judging of character. I wanted people who came into my salon, they, at first, think they couldn’t afford me, but when I tell them. They are surprised. I have a few diamond shapes, made up of really nice tile(which needs replacing) and chandeliers instead of the norm. Stations were antique vanities, sold the other when I got rid of a poor decision. So my salon has a nice sitting area with TV, mini refrigerator, and microwave. Had Tmobile for internet so whomever can watch tv or surf on their phones. I wanted people to feel special, like that pearl in the field, the merchant sold everything, just to have that pearl. I have diamond shaped tile!
So anywhos, I am going to attempt to come to the salon and take care of two of my long running clients, since, I think 2017. At the beginning, I was doing her haircut, but now I also take care of the hubby, for about 2.5 years, shortly after I open in 2019. Then Covid hit! Crazy things happened during the lockdown.
So after my morning appointments I am going to attempt to care of the Wilson family, since they have taken care of me and helped with my dream to be my own boss!

Hey guys, I'm Flip! 👋

🩶I'm a 2 year old guy who came in for TNR (Trap, Neuter, Return), and in a tale as old as time, I ended up with a kitty cold that delayed my release back outside. I stopped eating because I felt so bad, and so one of my helpers decided to try syringing me my meds and food. She wasn't sure how I would react to that, but I did just fine!

🩶She was petting me and discovered I had some BIG ticks on me, so she took me into the bathroom to remove them and clean my skin. I don't know if you've ever had ticks removed, but it HURTS-- I did not fight my helper at all! I was relieved to have those ticks gone, and after she tended my wounds, I curled up happily on her lap. At that point we knew I was not going back outside and that I am destined for a loving family!

🩶My helpers suspect I lived with people at some point and was abandoned or dumped, but no one claimed me during my legal stray hold, so here I am, a handsome and gentlemanly eligible bachelor, looking to settle down!

🩶I don't know if I have ever been around dogs or kids, but I think I would be okay with calm older kids who respect my boundaries. I seem to like other cats and I think I will do fine with them, with proper introductions of course! I'm still figuring out what toys I like; right now I am so into people that I prefer human interaction to just about anything else, even playing!

🩶I love to be on your lap and will purr for days with some good ear and chin scritches. I'm not a huge fan of being picked up just yet and I get a little squirmy, but I LOVE lap time! I'm a big foodie, and I like both wet and dry food. I especially love Churu treats and make the cutest little slurping sounds. As you can see, I really love naps in my fluffy bed!

🩶My helpers cannot believe what an incredibly good boy I am, and how good-natured. I have let them trim my nails and even give me a bath, with no issues at all. When I went to the vet to get my shots and bloodwork, they were amazed that I was so sweet and actually PURRED through the whole exam!

🩶I am so very happy to be safe indoors, and I can't wait to find a family that I can shower with love. If you're looking for a couch buddy to curl up with, I'm your dude!

We extend our appreciation to House Representative Congresswoman Jen Kiggans for her cosponsorship of the Sea Turtle Rescue Assistance and Rehabilitation Act of 2025 (H.R.347)! If passed, this bipartisan bill would require the Secretary of Commerce to establish the Sea Turtle Rescue Assistance Grant Program, improving federal funding support for the rescue and rehabilitation of sea turtles. Learn more about this bill at the link in the comments.
