She said "I'm curious about bangs but I don't use a flat iron". I said "Girl, you're in the right place".

This was our first cut together, she told me she usually opts for a simple trim because she has priorities that supersede a daily styling routine. I believe you can have great hair AND an easy breezy, roll out of bed routine. I also believe you can create self care practices that fit into your lifestyle, reduce stress, and help you look your best. I'm here to help you find your sweet spot.

While on my walk this morning I saw a lovebird, the first one of the season. It was happily singing on a branch just above our heads, and I knew today needed to be the day, so it's done. Look for my brand new link to book your appointments or find info on my studio.

On march 19th 2024 a bunch of friends joined me at The Beast to give my uterus a going away party. It was a bittersweet night because I was so humbled by the love and support but I was also feeling drained and in so much pain. I remember thinking "I just want to be on the other side". And then I was. My surgery was early in the morning on the 21st. My surgical team was so wonderful, it's hard to remember much about the half day I spent in their care, but I know I felt supported and reassured. I came home to my family who immediately fed me and let me sleep off all the drugs. Over the following few days Kate from Tempe Birth Center came and checked on my incisions. Clients and friends dropped off meals and treats. I was out of my mind being made to rest, I wanted to be out and about. All I could do were very short walks, the first day I made it to the end of the driveway. I got bored and restless fast, I tried to push through my recovery. People told me it would take a year to feel "normal" and I could not accept that. After a few weeks of being mostly home bound, I started popping in to work for one client a day. I booked lymphatic massages, and found very gentle yin yoga classes to keep "active". I wish I had found a way to really embrace slowing down, nothing could have prepared me for how truly exhausted I would feel for months. Some clients dropped off, I even lost a friend, I couldn't blame them, my schedule was so limited and my energy was so low. I was probably not much fun to be around, but I kept trying anyway. It really did take me the full year to recover. Since March of last year I've been super focused on putting my life back together. I stopped pushing myself around and started getting really intentional with my choices. I chose to center my health and find that when I do that it's much easier to show up as my best self for my friends, family, clients, and my business. I'm so grateful to everyone who was there for me during that time, there are really too many people to name. Thanks for sticking with me through the ebbs & flows, and thanks for reading to the end, lol. I've reflected on this era a lot, it broke me, but it changed me for the better.

I opened my studio in 2022 because I wanted to carve out a little corner for misfits like me to escape the pressures of the world outside. Not everyone wants a traditional salon experience with all the synthetic smells, noise and energy that can accompany that atmosphere. Some of us have different ideas of beauty that include a focus on kindness and compassion towards ourselves and the environment. In my studio you will be heard, you will feel nurtured, and you're gonna have fun, then you're gonna leave with a damn good haircut. You'll also go home with styling and self care tips that fit seamlessly into your routine and good, clean hair and scalp care products if you want them.

We haven't touched hair since her birthday last fall, and she's really liking the way it's growing out, we did a bang trim & retouched her root color, lightly feathering color through her midsection and leaving the ends lighter. As these shaggy layers grow out her hair is getting so much movement, where it is usually very straight we're seeing soft waves which I enhanced using The Magic.

I love a good ol' fashioned before and after. Ashley gets the most out of this gorgeous Italian bob with lots of fullnes and some light choppy layers towards the ends by allowing it to grow into a lob and coming back in once it starts doing that flippy thing at the shoulders. This allows her to have fun changing up her style at different lengths. Sometimes we even do a maintenance cut in between depending on what she's doing with her bangs and face framing.
