Babylights always get me thinking about how much the hair industry has changed in 10+ years.
I often get exclamations like, "4 to 5 hours? Wow! Okay-" when I give new clients a heads up on estimated appointment time.
My mom has even said, "5 hours!?! Ive never had an appointment take that long" to which I reply, "well...have you ever really loved your hair?" Spoiler alert: she hasn't.
For some reason, we are still being shamed into thinking long appointments mean we aren't good enough, educated enough, skilled enough...
But hair ISNT what it was before social media. Highlights arent slapped on & secretly skipping the nape area isnt gonna cut it (I feel like weve all had this happen at one point).
Highlights aka micro tiny freaking baby lights are now expected to grow out looking seamless. They are expected to have face framing pieces that pop just a little bit extra. All while simultaneously expecting to keep the integrity of the hair at a 10. Eeeeek, cue the sweat! 📷
5 hours to complete something that's going to last 3+ months shouldn't have people questioning our experience!
