Just wanted to brag about and share pictures of the beautiful five chair Salon, Medspa, and boutique I’ve been working at the past few months!
I’ve been independent now almost a decade after this year and it’s been quite the journey! I never thought I would be back in an open salon again, but honestly it was the best decision I could’ve ever made.
This is a chair rental salon so we are all independent contractors. We all make our own schedule, prices, product, and specialize in what we are passionate about! I was worried about the dynamic of this since I’ve only worked at an open chair commission salon. It’s honestly amazing.
I came in with a passion for knowledge, education and realized I love helping everyone succeed and thrive! I just didn’t know because I was in a suite forever!
Our atmosphere and my philosophy is this...

“ Someone’s light shining bright next to you should never dim yours. It’s just going to make yours look brighter standing next to you.” Just think if we opened our hearts and our minds how much we could learn from each other. Two brains are better than one and two mouths are better than one. Working together isn’t going to just help the person next to you but yourself as well!

I believe that if someone success it’s taking away from yours, that has nothing to do with them… That’s on YOU. No one is perfect and we all are making mistakes growing and learning. Even I do 16 years behind the chair. If you’re doing everything right… your work should speak for itself.

I grew up in probably the most industry-changing decade so far and I hope the old competitive mentality changes. We are all in the same season, maybe not in the same arena. Our industry moves so incredibly fast right now thanks to social media. We have to keep up and we have to stick together. 💗

This group of ladies have embraced me and I am so grateful.
I was alone in a Suite for 9 years. Quite a few years too long in my opinion. I will always love it for some reasons but, after so many years it gets lonely and harder.
We are all independent contractors, still have freedom and independence, but act as a team and still get the positives from working with other talented stylists.
And I will say… ALL of them are SO talented! I feel honored to be around such positive and hardworking women with a passion for knowledge.
Inspiring, helpful, and confident because we know there is room for all of us to make it to the finish line.
Confident enough to know we are bad ass, but humble enough to know we aren’t the only bad ass in the room. 😂 Just think how much knowledge there could be in one room with five brains and five mouths instead of one.
I wish more stylists would think this way, cut the insecurities and competition out and grow together.🌻
Who knows where I will take my career to in the next few years, but I definitely feel like I’m at home at the moment. Thank you Vicky for building a beautiful space to work and grow! 💗

Yes she is turning 61 this year and I had the pleasure of servicing her at the new salon!
Her natural hair grew past her ONE row and this was the outcome! A few months ago I used her as a model because I was pretty sure she would not be able to handle them. I was wrong! She fell in love instantly and was able to grow her own hair out with them installed after following my home care and product regimen.
The new salon in Kingwood Town center has been a dream! This has been my first time in almost a decade being full-time in a salon and not a suite. The area is so cute, and the salon is so bright and spacious!

Extensions should not be a physical burden. I want my clients to enjoy them and have fun with them!
I don’t know how many of my clients all of a sudden are receiving only one row now! That means their extensions are only for volume and not length.
MY own hair is at 22 inches you guys!!! Yes... I said my natural hair without extensions is 22 inches and the longest it’s been my entire life. I’ve been wearing a IBE with no breaks for the last year! I’m super diligent about home care and vitamins, but during Covid it was only right past my shoulders!

Not all hair extensions are for length! I’m definitely not one of those girls that naturally can grow a full bouncy textured bob!
Sometimes long hair can get hot, harder to manage in the summer, and maybe just doesn’t fit your personality!
This client here was gleaming with excitement and smiles after cutting her 2 rows of extensions and taking the bob plunge. For the first time in her life she loves her short hair! I just adore her to pieces! She is fun and full of life with hair that matches!😘

Been a little quiet lately, but I’ve been FOCUSED. 🔍

My goal was to clean up my stitching and beadwork the last 3 months. I think I did!
Put in the work to build confidence! Work smarter AND harder!

is the only method that I’ve tested out of many that doesn’t hurt, no excessive shedding/ fall out when removed, and zero sore spots or redness.

My advice to clients is to pay attention to how your head feels after a service. It shouldn’t be hard to sleep, and you shouldn’t be in tears or dread this experience.

Hairstylists, extension specialists, or anyone interested... I want all of us to THRIVE and make people so happy with this niche. I mean this with LOVE and not to upset anyone... please don’t rush beading and stitching. It’s one thing to have an unexpected color oops, but extensions are completely different. Traction alopecia is worse than any overprocessed cuticle. You can see scalp tension (white) while you bead or stitch. Stop, go back and slow down. Every. single. hair should look clean. Every stitch and every bead. If it’s not, it will cause excessive fall out. If the section in your bead is too wide there will be excessive shedding. There are no shortcuts if you want the desired results. You can’t cut corners with hair extensions ever.

If you feel like the method you mastered is causing your clients hair to thin out, search for a different one or ask a mentor! It’s up to us to keep integrity and transparency in this service.

I hope some people that agree can come together and not feel bad for making a voice about this. This is pretty new to our industry and ITS HARD! I will share any tips I can with anybody, because there’s PLENTY of clients needing a quality service. There should be no competition.

Be humble and open to criticism in your work. It will make you better. Build confidence by putting in the work!

I just beg our industry to please pay attention more to hair extension services and please slow down with it. I’m begging you. Choose the method you feel is the healthiest for your clients, stick with it, and master it. ❤️
