Have I shared that Komuso has a breathing tool for kids?!
This silicone version is perfect if they’re still learning to take deep breaths, because they can chew on it too!
I always found it a hard skill to teach kids to breathe to regulate their nervous system when they’re in the moment of fight-flight. I would venture to say, it doesn’t work. Start with sensory, then move into breathing. That’s why I love this idea!

Komuso · Micro-Calming™ Breathwork they make breathing jewelry for grown-ups too, which is more my style. 💁🏻♀️
Do you know about Forest Bathing?! You need to know 😉
A practice or process of therapeutic relaxation where one spends time in a forest or natural atmosphere, focusing on sensory engagement to connect with nature.
• Listen to forest sounds, i.e. birds and insects.
• Touch the ground, the trees, and the leaves.
• Smell the flowers; the plants and trees.
• Observe the surroundings and scenery
• Taste the crispiness of the air while breathing

I see this often. Child refuses to sit still, won’t transition without a meltdown, or ignores direction, and it seems like ‘bad behavior.’
Sometimes the child isn’t being defiant. They’re having a fight-flight response. Why?
Sensory systems that are overwhelmed don’t respond calmly, they react. Our job isn’t to control that reaction but to dig deeper to understand where it’s coming from.
The best thing to do is to connect. Connection is the first step to digging deeper.
