My kids were not quite 5 and freshly 3 years old when I opened Rooted. This first photo is from our one year anniversary in 2014, back when we had 3 rooms, about to add a 4th. Eventually, we'd add a 5th and then 3 years later, another huge business risk, which changed a lot for me - positive and challenging. I've always wanted my kids to see me - a woman and mother - have other things that I pour myself into. That I can care for many things at once, and that they can aspire to create the life they want to live. That's what I've tried to do, at least. I've also always tried to be a present, loving mother.

Balancing both motherhood and growing and owning a small (then bigger) business has not always been easy (omg understatement of the century), but now, all of these years later - both of these little kids are working for me at Rooted. They get to see my community from the inside - and get a clearer understanding of all that I've been working so hard for.

They are working in my shop Tuesday-Saturday through the summer from 10:30-2:30 and will keep some hours once they both start their freshman and junior years at the UofA. Come by and see them and spend some money in our beautiful shop. Broken record here, but it's literally how we stay open - support local or we're gone. 🤷‍♀️♥️
