✨MENTAL HEALTH CHECK IN✨

How are you guys doing? I know the world feels extra heavy recently. I’m right there with you. Scared, worried, stressed, no idea what could come next in the timeline.

I keep visualizing this shoot in my head, all the laughs, support, and love from the Stag & Doe team has really helped me through this past week.

Depression and anxiety are very very real, and both something I struggle a lot with, especially recently.

I strive to make my chair a safe space away from all that, but sometimes you need to vent, and that’s okay!

I have heard so many people tell me recently that they’re overwhelmed, and that getting through is just extra hard right now. But know that you’re not alone. We’re in this together.

Take care of yourself babe.

I specialize in giving those of us within the LGBTQ+ community a safe space to be ourselves.

Pride means lots of different things to different people, but to me, it’s all about the gift of getting to be myself all because of those who fought for our freedom back in the day.

HISTORY LESSON!!!!

In the early morning hours on June 28, 1969, the Stonewall Inn in Greenwich village in NYC was raided by law enforcement. But something was different this time- the bar wasn’t tipped off, this was a surprise.

Police entered the building finding bootleg alcohol, roughing up patrons, and arrested 13 people, including employees, and those not abiding the states ‘gender appropriate clothing’ law.

Those suspected to be cross dressers were taken to the bathroom for a s*x check, and many were victims of assault that day.

Fed up and furious with the constant police harassment and social discrimination, angry patrons and residents jumped in, quickly leading to a riot.

This movement lasted for five days after the incident, and many pin point this time in history as the turning point in Gay rights.

Many were injured, and 21 people were arrested during the riots.

Now, Stonewall Inn is registered as a historical monument as a contribution to the Gay Rights Movement.

We have come a long way since then, but there is still so much work to do. If you haven’t, I highly suggest reading up on some gay history this pride month.

Weather you have been out for decades, or you’re still in the closet, I’m here for you. This community is so full of love and support, and you will always have someone behind you.

You are loved, no matter how you identify.

another color correction in the books 😌

I’m sure you ALL know by now that I LOVE color corrections, but this one put me to the test.

This wonderful lady just moved back to OK from out of state, and was in need of some fresh color for job interviews.

She usually gets a bright copper all over, but when she left her last appointment, that wasn’t what she got. (previous color NOT done by me)

She was a dark level 4 brown, with level 7 ends (dark blonde). With important interviews on the way, she threw a few highlights in her hair at home so she didn’t feel so dark.

She came to me wanting to feel fresh. She said that her hair felt lifeless, dull, and dry, and it still wasn’t the color that she wanted.

I started the process with a platinum card technique, just focusing on the root and midshaft of her hair. Her ends were already pretty compromised, so I didn’t want to put them in foils. Integrity comes first!

Once that color was lifted to an even enough canvas, I pulled her foils and ran that lightener through her ends to brighten them for that beautiful vibrant copper.

I then applied a root and an end color as our final step.

This whole process took roughly 5 hours!

Color can go wrong so easily and so quick, but it can take hours or even days to fix.
