Ya’ll knowwwwww I love great pixie… but In a world full of cute and trendy pixie cuts, one thing I’ll always appreciate as a pixie expert is a classic roller set! 🙌🏾
Back in the day, before the quick styles and all of these modern techniques that we enjoy today, roller sets were the foundation of healthy relaxed hair — it created body, movement, and shine without excessive heat.
Add some long layers to that and 💥!
There’s something timeless about going back to the basics and remembering that healthy hair will always be in style.💪🏾
A simple roller set teaches patience (👀 sitting under that dryer), care, and consistency. It’s proof that beauty doesn’t always have to be complicated to be effective.
As much as I love creating a flawless pixie, I’ll forever respect the techniques that helped build healthy hair from the root up. Classic NEVER goes out of style. ✨

👋🏾👋🏾 Hey friends!!
You typically see me post my Pixie work( I looove a good pixie) but today
I wanted to introduce you to my Liz… ❤️
Oftentimes when I post my senior clients, it’s because they’ve passed on…
But that’s not this post. Thank God.
My “Lizbeth” as I loving call her came to see me last week. She’s 87 years young!
We figured out that when Liz stared coming to me 32 years ago, she was 56 years old, just 2 years older than I am now!
I was about 22 years old and Liz would come to see me every two weeks on Thursday at 5:30 like clockwork! She only missed an appointment when I was on maternity leave.
Liz took two buses to see me faithfully. She passed by a dozen or more hair salons on her way to see me and no matter where I moved, my Liz was there.
What a Blessing she has been in my life. Liz remembers when I met my honey on a blind date 31 years ago and was at my bridal shower and baby shower, 21 years ago.
I was there for her when her oldest son died unexpectedly and I’ve been around for many of her grandchildren’s births and all of her great- grandchildren.
Although she doesn’t remember now, my Liz wore a short black pixie for 25 years so this is a lot of hair for us! Lol!
I don’t get to see my girl nearly as often as I used to but I’m just so grateful to still have my Lizbeth with me. She’s still sweet and a little sassy these days too but I’ll take it. Lol
“In the last Christmas card that Liz gave me, she wrote,
“I will always remember you.”… and thankfully she still does.🙏🏾
This is what it’s all about for me. Loving connections and sweet memories…

I introduced this jar three years ago when I opened my salon suites because I wanted my Suitehearts to know that no matter how hard their day was, there would be a good word, waiting for them at the end of it with me. My girls look forward to this special moment during their appointment when they can reach their hand into this jar, anticipating and believing that God has a good word of encouragement, just for them. They hold onto those words,either sticking them on their walls, tucking them into their Bibles or for some, creating their own jars from the words that they take home with them from our time together. Sometimes, my suitemates stop by and ask for a good word, because we need a good word too! 🙌🏾I enjoy filling my girls L🩷ve tanks before I send them back out into the world. They need it and they deserve it.How do you encourage yourself?

How I start every day.
I have to.
It’s how I charge my Faith battery, because sometimes, life be life’n for me and my girls and I need to come to work ready! ⚔️🙏🏾⚔️💪🏾⚔️
The same way that I believe nurses and teachers are called and specifically chosen by God on assignment, I believe that good hairstylists are called and chosen as well.
Think about how trusted we are with your hair, the dreams and goals you share with us and even your tears. We are often the keeper of your secrets and your biggest cheerleader.
It’s so much more than hair. I know you know that. It’s a sacred connection and I’m so honored to have been chosen… for such a time as this.
