Why Do Microbladed or Microshaded Brows Turn Grey?

Over time, permanent makeup pigments don’t just “fade” they shift in color due to several scientific and technical factors:

Pigment Composition & Undertones

Most pigments used in PMU (permanent makeup) are made of a blend of colors:
• Warm tones (red, orange, yellow)
• Cool tones (black, blue, green)

When brows are first implanted, they look balanced. But as the skin heals and the body breaks down pigment:
• Warm tones fade faster
• Cool tones (especially black/blue) linger longer

👉 This leaves behind a grey or ashy appearance

🗒️ There are many other Factors for Grey or Ashy Eyebrows like, Use of Carbon- Based Pigments, Depth of Implantation, Skin type & chemistry, Sun exposure & Oxidation….

How to Fix Grey or Ashy Brows 🙌🏼

Color Correction (Most Common Solution)

Instead of removing the brows, you neutralize the unwanted tone.

👉 Basic color theory:
• Grey/blue brows → correct with warm tones (orange, red, peach)
• This rebalances the pigment before adding a new target color

2. Cover-Up with Correct Pigment Choice

After neutralization:
• Use a warmer-based brown pigment
• Avoid overly cool or carbon-heavy formulas
