It’s time for a new Takeover! The next few weeks Ulta will be featuring Sexy Hair products, so let me introduce you so a few of them:

Volume Shampoo + Conditioner
For all of your volume needs! Hair feeling a little flat and need that extra oomf? This pair will give you allll of that!

Tri-Wheat Leave In
Ever feel like your hair is dry and tough to get a brush through? This leave in will condition your hair and detangle it to give you more styling ease! Pair it with the Volume Shampoo + Conditioner to get extra hydrated, voluminous styles!

Blow Dry Volumizing Gel
For that extra EXTRA volume! Follow up after the Volume Shampoo + Conditioner to give your hair that extra BANG! Apply it to damp hair before blow drying and it’ll really plump up your strands!

Powder Play
Need a little extra height in your everyday wear? Going to an event and need to give your style a boost? Shake some Powder Play onto the root area and use your fingers or a comb to lift the hair and give it that height your style needs! Also great for short hair styling!

Spray + Play Volumizing Hairspray
Now this baby has HOLD. Whether you’re heading to an even or taking a night out, this hairspray will keep your hairstyle in place! So dance the night away, this product has got you!

So Touchable Weightless Hairspray
For the looser styles. If you want to keep your curls or loose style in tact without your hair feeling sticky, this is the hairspray for you! It has a very light hold, so it won’t weigh your hair down, and will be so easy to brush out at the end of the day!

Waking up to snow was definitely not expected. Isn’t it supposed to be spring?? (Even though it’s only February…shh…)

KREYOL ESSENCE

We are nearly done with this month’s takeovers, and today we are looking at Kreyol Essence. This line, along with the several other we’ve learned about, is for everyone to use! Along with a Shampoo and Conditioner, this line is also featuring a Hair Milk, Hair Mask, and a Pomade. Dry and lifeless curls? Apply the Hair Mask to the hair wet or dry, and leave in for a few minutes before rinsing to really lock in that moisture. Follow up with the Hair Milk, which can be used a couple different ways! Not a lot of time? Apply the Hair Milk throughout your mids and ends while damp and style as usual. However, you can also add some hair oil to it for some extra shine and sit for a few minutes before rinsing out and styling! To finish off, try adding the Pomade to your routine! This product is perfect for breakage, dryness, and is WONDERFUL for using to tame any flyaways and frizz. It can also be used on the scalp to add some extra moisture if the scalp is feeling dry!

MELANIN

Along with the several brands Ulta is featuring this month, Melanin is a curly hair care brand that ANYONE can use. From the Plumping Deep Conditioner, to the Twist Elongating Style Cream and Leave In Conditioner, this brand is going to keep your hair soft, while assisting to get that style you’re going for. To add this line to your regimen, start with the Deep Conditioner. This can be used like a mask, and will set the hair up for success! The Deep Conditioner can be left in for up to 30 minutes before you rinse, and then follow up with the Leave In, and finally, the Style Cream. These products are SUPER lightweight and won’t drag your hair down, and vitamin rich so you KNOW your hair is getting the proteins it needs! And like I said, ANYONE can use it!

I remember hating this photo back when I took it because of the shadow of my arm, so I just kept it tucked away in my camera roll where I completely forgot about it. Coming across it, I realized, who cares? It’s a shadow, and the lighting was BEAUTIFUL this day, so I’m gonna show it off because it deserves to be seen 🤍

Every month, Ulta features new and different products and this time, we have a couple brands to look at! Each brand specializes for our curly friends (though some of these products can be used for any hair type!). So today I’ll tell you about one of them:

PATTERN

Today we’ve got Pattern’s Hydration Shampoo, Medium Conditioner, and Curl Mousse. This line is SUPER moisturizing for curls without weighing them down. The shampoo and conditioner is also very color safe, and the shampoo removes buildup to leave beautiful, hydrated curls. The Curl Mousse also leaves curls fluffy and touchable, while also helping them to dry faster for quicker styling! And while this may showcase only a few products, this line is HUGE and also full of tools to make styling easier! And the packaging is so cute, come on.

Hi everyone! It’s been a little while, huh? A lot has happened in the last few months so let me tell you about it!

We moved! In October, my husband and I packed up our things and moved from Minnesota to Indiana, which was a LONG drive with a dog. Nevertheless, we absolutely love where we are, my husband is enjoying his job, and after a lot of back and forth with the cosmetology board, I am finally starting in the salon at Ulta in Valparaiso! I am LOVING working here so far, and I cannot wait to show you everything I learn and do. And now my books are open! I am in the salon Tuesday-Saturday and have already met so many wonderful new faces, I cannot wait to meet more.

Hello everyone! I hope everyone enjoyed their summer and is excited about fall being here! I haven’t been very active here lately - a lot of changes have been happening this summer with a ton of uncertainty, but I am finally here to share some big life changes with all of you: on October 20th, my husband and I will be relocating to Portage, Indiana for his work, which I am VERY excited for (and very proud of him as well!), yet it doesn’t come without a sadness for leaving The Barn on 60th. Being able to serve the Hills area for the last 2 ½ years has been a joy, and while I am excited to start a new chapter in a new town, I am going to miss all of my clients here terribly! Seriously. You’ve all made the beginning of my career such an impactful one and I am so so thankful for everything I have learned thus far. My last day in the salon here will be October 17th, and I’m hoping to fill up the rest of my schedule with the familiar faces I have loved getting to see during my time here. I will be back again with an update as to where I will be serving clients next, and I look forward to getting to show you all of the new things I may learn!
