What an adventure the last two years have been as I’ve built my clientele and relationships in the studio. I’ve shared so many laughs and tears with countless families, memories that I will cherish forever.

Sadly, as of August, I will no longer be at the studio. Independent Studios has provided me with an amazing space to begin growing my business and pursuing the dream I have for my future. Unfortunately, with the current economy, maintaining a studio while raising four children and meeting their individual needs is no longer something we can manage. The rising cost of living is challenging for every family, especially for someone trying to grow a small business during these difficult times.

My hope is to continue serving my clients, although I’m still figuring out exactly what that will look like and where I will be working from. I am absolutely willing to come into your homes and continue providing the same time, care, and attention that I have always given you in the studio.

I plan to reach out to each and every client individually. If you haven’t heard from me in the coming weeks, please don’t hesitate to reach out.

Thank you to all of the families who have supported and helped build my business, to my family for always believing in me, and to Independent Studios for being such an incredible home over the past two years.

This is easily the hardest decision I’ve ever had to make in life so far and I’ve taken all of my clients into consideration. This isn’t goodbye—it’s simply the end of one chapter, and I’m hopeful that the dream will continue into the next 🤍

It’s been almost two years at the studio trying to build my business and clientele. I knew at the beginning that I wouldn’t start profiting for the first year or two and as a business owner it’s the expected reality. I’ve started out the first two years with basically nothing. I purchased a lot of my tools and necessities from temu just to cut corners and have more money to bring into the business. If you’ve had an appointment with me then you probably have seen many different clippers over the last 2 years. I would buy them cheap and use them until the blades fell off. With a small business you do what you have to do to work toward the future.

These may look like clippers to you, but these look like progress and a future for me and my family. I spent more on this set than I’d like to admit, but being able to do that on my own, from the business I’ve built is the most rewarding feeling.

I’ve been talking about these to my clients for months and how I’ve been saving to be able to afford them. I can’t wait to continue to help and service all of my friends who prefer a quiet haircut 🤗

When my husband and I get home from work we always ask each other how our day was. When he asked me the other day I told him it was “great, I made a mom and dad cry today!” I paused and realized how crazy that sounded lol

Looking at that statement though, I realized it wasn’t crazy at all! Tears in my room can mean so many different things! Some tears are stress, some tears are fear, but my favorite tears are those of pure joy and pride. Watching the emotions from families that have never had a successful haircut with their littles before has become the most rewarding and special part of my career path.

Full disclosure, I usually end up crying too lol but only because it’s usually such a powerful moment. Seeing so many clients face their fears and allowing themselves to be vulnerable with me has made me reflect on how grateful I am that I decided to pursue this dream!

The happy tears have kept my chair spinning and my door open. Thank you to all of those families that continue to trust me 🤍

My son asked me the other day what I do at work.

Sometimes when people ask what my day looks like, I’m not even sure where to start because everyday is so different than the one before. Some days are hard and some days are easy. Some days I’m standing doing most of my haircuts, and some days I’m crawling on the floor.

Only one thing stays consistent from day to day.

Everyday I love what I do. That is a fact. That will never change. Some days might be harder on my body while trying to contort to whatever position I need to be in to keep my client comfortable. Some days can be emotional trying to help someone be brave when they have big feelings and they are out of their comfort zone.

But I’m here doing it. Loving every minute of it.

This sweet girl is one of my new clients. It took a time or two of meeting her to even get her to come into my room. I was able to build enough trust with her for her to allow me to play with her hair. Within the hour, here we are just cutting away as she’s playing with toys. We’d stop and pause when you could tell she needed a moment, and she’d look at me with her big beautiful brown eyes and give me a little smile, then we’d start back at it. I figured out very early that sitting in the chair was a no go, so we moved around the room as she explored and I just snuck a snip or two in when I had the chance. Eventually she decided to take a seat on the couch and see what kind of toys I had. We might’ve danced around the room but she was so brave and we got the cut done with zero tears! To say I’m so proud of her is an understatement!!

As a wife of a union carpenter, I’ve learned over the last 12 years or so what the meaning of a union truly is. It’s a brotherhood/sisterhood of people with a crazy work ethic, steadfast dedication, and the drive to support their families.

In light of the recent lockouts at NIPSCO and BP, I’m offering free haircuts to the union men and women affected by this, along with their family members! As long as the lock outs continue, I will provide hair care services to the families in need!

On a personal level, I can’t imagine the stress that some of these families are under every single day . My husband and I have had our fair share of medical issues with our kids and his union brothers and sisters were always there to lend a helping hand when we needed it most. This is my way to finally pay it forward bc some days we wouldn’t have been able to make it without the family his job has created.
