Hey hey Orchid Fam🌸,

I wanted to share an important experience from a recent session and hopefully everyone can share or learn from this. A new client had come in to see me for a relaxing facial for Mother’s Day. As she walked into the room, I noticed an unusual mole on her back, thanks to her wearing a spaghetti strap top. Concerned, I immediately asked her some questions and advised her to see a dermatologist as soon as possible.🥼

A few weeks later, I had followed up with her and she had shared that she had a full body skin exam. The dermatologist performed a biopsy on the mole, and it came back positive for a severely dysplastic nevus (indistinguishable from early melanoma). Melanoma is the skin cancer you do not want as this is deadly! It has the ability to metastasis (spread) to other organs. Fortunately, it was caught early, and she was able to undergo a more extensive surgery to remove the lesion completely. Early detection was crucial!💉

This experience underscores the importance of regular self-examinations and annual dermatologist visits. Skin health is vital, and being proactive can make all the difference.☺️

Today, I wanted to share my personal skincare journey, struggles and what brought me to where I am today. I was very hesitant but I wanted to be raw for my old and new followers.💫

Since middle, high school and up to this day, I have battled with various skin issues, including acne, large pores, texture, and uneven skin tone. At the beginning, I knew little to nothing about skincare essentials like cleansing twice daily, using Vitamin C, retinoids, and especially the importance of sunscreen.🥴

The photo on the left is from December 2016, and the one on the right is from June 2024. I am only wearing sunscreen from Colorscience and no longer need to wear heavy foundation!😍

This transformation has been an eight-year journey, requiring consistent effort and dedication. Achieving better skin quality is a gradual process, not a quick fix.🤍

My progress has often been challenged by PCOS, a significant factor in my acne. For those unfamiliar, PCOS stands for Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome, a hormonal disorder. When hormones are imbalanced, it creates considerable stress on the body. Hormones, produced by glands, regulate many vital functions and life stages.

PCOS symptoms include acne, irregular menstrual cycles, excessive hair growth or hair loss, obesity, and infertility. It's a tough condition to manage. Despite this, I have stayed committed to my daily skincare regimen and continue striving for improvement.

I wanted to share my story to remind everyone that perfect skin is a myth. Babies may have perfect skin, but as we grow, we all develop our unique flaws and imperfections. It's essential to learn to love ourselves and not be our own harshest critics. You all are beautiful inside and out in your own special way.😇

I want to remind everyone that my skin may not be flawless, but I am here to inspire, educate, and support you on your skincare journey.
