I read this on LinkedIn today, soooooo sad. Don’t do this please, you maybe LOVED and just don’t realize it.

Sam Cande
This is the saddest and hardest post I will ever write. I think this message is so important to share on this platform. You will see why.

This weekend my best friend Jenni Joynt MCIPS took her own life.

Even though she told me the day before that she was ok, even though she was starting a new job, and had so much to live for and had a loving and supportive family and so many friends that cared about her and loved her dearly, she still decided to end her unexplainable pain.

Jenni's family have said that it was ok to share the devastating
loss here. I also want to share some of the demons Jenni discussed with me and some thoughts about how we can support those going through mental health, in the hope that it may help others in their darkest hours.

Jenni felt that the world was against her, she felt she wasn't
good enough, that she wasn’t accepted, that she was draining, that she wasn’t valued, that she drove people mad, that she wasn’t loved, that she was a burden, that she wasn't deserving and more. She wasn’t any of those. Myself and many others told her that every day.

Jenni was the most beautiful, caring, kind, funny, capable, clever, driven, hard-working, passionate, adventurous women that I knew. She lit up a room when she walked into it. She was the life and soul of a party. We had so much fun going to networking events which is where I got to know her 7 years ago, at a business travel conference. We formed a strong friendship immediately and had the same cheeky sense of humour.

Over the last few years, so many people have struggled and the world doesn’t seem to be letting up.

For those that work with people that are struggling, please give them the support they need. Don’t let your colleagues and employees go off sick and not reach out to them. Do tell them how much they’re missed and you can’t wait for them to feel strong enough to come back. Make every employee feel valued, tell them their work matters and they matter, find ways to include them in the team, fill their days with meaningful work. Bring your colleagues in close, they need you now more than ever. Check on people working from home as it can be lonely. Have regular check ins and create communities of support at work.

If you can, offer mental health support or share places people can find the help they need. Get mental health training so you know how to deal with someone who’s suffering.

I am not blaming anyone here. Jenni's demons went deeper than work but I hope this message can give some insight into what mental health can look like and don’t be scared to reach out to people suffering, you may just save their life.

I'm re sharing in the comments a Sustain Talks with Matt Holman in memory of my beautiful friend Jenni which is all about mental health. Plus some other helpful links.

I couldn’t save Jenni but I hope this may be able to save someone else.

My door is always open to anyone that needs to talk.

Accountability: One of the most misunderstood words in the English language, I believe.
When we think of the phrase “hold accountable” and how it is used in our culture, you will quickly recognize that it has a “negative” connotation. For examples: “We will hold those evil doers accountable for what they did” GEORGE BUSH after 9/11. “This defendant must be held accountable for his actions” DISTRICT ATTORNEYS. “I will hold you accountable for the success of the sales team this year” A BOSS IN A SALES ORIENTED ORGANIZATION. I am sure I can find a million examples of how the phrase is used in a “bad” or “negative” light to say the least.
Dictionary’s definition:
ac·count·a·ble
/əˈkoun(t)əb(ə)l/
adjective
(Of a person, organization, or institution) required or expected to justify actions or decisions; responsible.
"Parents could be held accountable for their children's actions"
Similar: responsible, liable, answerable, chargeable, to blame, reporting
subject
under the charge of, bound to obey, obeying, bound by.
Opposite:
Unaccountable
When we examine what the real meaning of the word “accountable,” it should mean a positive ACTION NOT a negative CONSEQUENCE.
We, as a society use the word as a consequence to a bad behavior or deed. When in reality, the word is an action, and that action is owned ONLY by the person who holds himself/herself ACCOUNTABLE for what they are ABOUT to do, NOT what they already have or have not done.
To hold ourselves “accountable” for something we already did, is an oxymoron. A punishment or any other remedy for something we already did, is a CONSEQUENCE not ACCOUNTABILITY.
We can hold someone RESPONSIBLE for something they did, but we cannot hold them ACCOUNTABLE. In fact, we can only hold ourselves ACCOUNTABLE for what we are ABOUT to do. We cannot hold anyone else accountable for anything.
The only time I heard the phrase used correctly is, when it is used to “hold oneself accountable for what they will do next.” It makes all the sense in the world when you hear a football coach, for example, saying, “I will hold myself accountable for my team’s poor play today and that will start immediately as soon as this press conference is over.” It means, he will hold himself accountable for coaching the team better so they may perform better in the NEXT game. On the other hand, if he said, “I hold myself accountable for my team’s loss today,” that would not make any sense because, what does that mean? Is he going to fire himself? Is he going to trade himself to another team? It does not mean anything at all.
The bottom line is, we must hold ourselves accountable for what we are about to do or commit to do.
I can hold myself accountable for my success and my failure ONLY going forward. If I have good or terrible things happening in my life now due to my PAST successes or failures, these are CONSEQUENCES NOT ACCOUNTABILITIES.
Going forward, say to yourself “I am holding myself accountable for my FUTURE success, I can’t hold anyone else accountable.”
When wonderful things happen to you, say “I am now recognizing the consequences of my PREVIOUS work or actions”
Please share if this makes sense to you or please retort if you feel it doesn’t make sense. Thank you

What is the new paradigm for the next 10 to 20 years? Please let me know your thoughts. Thank you.

We are all trying to make sense of the “mass resignation,” as well as the new “silent resignation.” We are all wondering how the businesses in the USA will continue to survive with the lack of people available for work.

The truth is the issue is much wider than the mass resignation and the silent resignation combined. the reality is we are now in what I believe to be the largest change in basic assumptions in our lifetime. I believe the change in thinking we are going through now is as large as the world paradigm shift that took place in 1929 and 1944. As we all know the crash of 1929 caused a major shift in the world and how we view economy. after 1944 the world views have shifted in a cultural way.

In or about March of 2020 with the onset of COVID-19 the world view has shifted in even more ways than 1929 or 1944. the world views have shifted spiritually, emotionally, mentally, physically and for sure, economically. The changes which have taken place since March of 2020 until today as well as the next 10 to 20 years has and will continue to dramatically change our world.

Spiritually, people have started to pray which is something they may have not done before, others may have stopped believing altogether because they have lost loved ones to the virus and believe that God did not intervene save them.

People have been emotionally devastated Because of what the disease did to them and their loved ones, physically and economically.

Many people around the world are now seeking mental health help to cope not only with the effects of the disease physically but also due to the major psychological harm it has caused.

Then an economical “paradigm shift” started with people staying home during the disease, either by choice or by mandates from their employer or the government. People started to evaluate their life with the loved ones at home. they found, it was rewarding to stay home with their spouses, parents, children, etc.

Almost 100% of the people I interact with on daily basis, started a side hustle to provide for their families. we all noticed the strong demand for people using their vehicles to deliver food products and other necessities to people who are staying at home. we all have seen the major influx of deliveries. we all have seen the advertisements from Amazon, UPS, FedEx, Door Dash, Uber eats, lyft, and many others.

Many people decided to start a new business from home. It is estimated the number of LLCS, and corporations have exceeded the two million, since the start of COVID. Many experts estimate that number to be much higher, upward of ten million. Many of those experts also claim that this is a good economical time for the US and its growth for years to come. So, what is then this new paradigm for the next 10 to 20 years?

when we examine peoples’ thoughts about their new ways of making a living for themselves and their loved ones, we will quickly see that in 90% of the cases the new endeavors include jobs or tasks such as home deliveries as we have mentioned before, computer-based businesses from home, which includes helping other people through online support groups. Many other people are in front of their computers at home buying and selling bitcoins or any other online trading. people, rightfully so, are trying to figure out ways to make a living from, either the comfort of their home or the comfort of their car which also allows them to spend more quality time with their loved ones.

however, this is causing a major decline in the learning of skills such as plumbing, electrician, masonry work, which obviously will become an issue to deal with in the future. More importantly, more than 90% of the new businesses do not produce products, it is all, or mostly, service industry. Even the items that are made at home, such as tumblers, glasses, printed towels, printed T shirts, etc. are not essential for our survival as humans in the United States of America. This means we will continue to rely on imports from other countries such as China for the most basics of items. Anyone who is even remotely following the global supply chain for the last few months realizes that it is a major issue at this moment, and it will get worse in the next few months. yes, it is true that people in the United States started to invest in manufacturing once again however, that road will take somewhere between 10 to 20 years to be realized or remotely get us to the point where we can rely on our own production in the United States for essential items.

At the end I believe that, yes people will continue to make money on bitcoins and the like, but the true future millionaires and billionaires are those who will, in the next 10 to 20 years, be able help solve the issues of either “quickly increase domestic production” or figure out a quick way to a massive improvement in the “global supply chain”.

THAT IS THE FUTURE.

01/23/2022

I was 16 years old, in 1976, when my family asked my uncle Ramsey to help us migrate to the United States as he did back in 1968. It took two years of paperwork and back and forth between the Egyptian government and the United States government to vet us out as a family to make sure we were a good fit for the United States culture and economy. Yes, that is how it was back then.
My family migrated to the United States in 1978, I had just finished high school and had no clue what I want to do with my future. I wanted to be an engineer like my father but where I came from, you had to score extremely high marks on the Egyptian equivalent of the American SAT exam to be accepted at an Engineering school.
It was to my pleasant surprise to learn that I can study more, take the SAT and then be able to go to Engineering school here in the wonderful USA.
But wait, there is a couple of challenges that I must overcome first. The largest of them was the language. I had to learn the English language first before I can study and take an exam.
I spent the following year and half working the graveyard shift at a chrome plating factory, carrying steel from one end of the factory (the warehouse portion) to the other end of the factory (where the platting tanks were). During the day I slept for a while, watched "One life to Live" on TV for an hour every day and then read a translation book or articles or something that would help me convert, in my mind, the Arabic language into the English equivalent so I may learn. I also enrolled into an "English as a second language class" at the local Community College as well as the local free night school for foreigners.
In 1980 I finally was able to enroll and attend a BS Engineering program at, the state college of New Jersey or, what was then known as, Trenton State College.
1985. Yes, 1985 was THE BEST YEAR IN MY LIFE. Not only I graduated with my Engineering degree but MUCH more importantly, this was the year I became a US Citizen. Wow, some may say, “good for you” or “Congratulations,” or “welcome to the USA Citizenship,” etc.… None of that would have been even CLOSE to how I felt that day and STILL feel today 37 years later.
What does USA Citizenship mean to me then and now? Becoming a US Citizen to me, meant that I finally achieved my biggest goal in life, achieved the pinnacle of success, I am at the top of the world, I am FREE, I am LIBERATED, I am RESPONSIBLE, I have no EXCUSES to peruse the life I always dreamt of, I have no excuses to PURSUE whatever I define as HAPPINESS, I can SPEAK my mind without fear, I can do ANYTHING, within the law, and not be afraid, I simply can finally be………………………………………………. ME.
Today, I try extremely hard, every day, to practice what I preach. I do my best to speak my mind without offending others, to continue to pursue my dreams, continue to pursue my happiness, continue to tell everyone who would listen, about this GREAT country and what all it has to offer. Yes, we have our own challenges in this country like any other country but having lived or extensively stayed in the far east, Europe, Africa, and South and central America, I can say without hesitation that I still live in the GREATEST Country in the world.
Today, I have my own small business, after working for corporate America for the better part of 35 years, I am free to worship or not worship whomever I want, I have a strong spirit, I have a strong body for a 62-year-old male, I have a strong mind, I have a strong soul and a strong emotional balance in my life.
I invite you ALL today, to celebrate with me, the fact that we walk up this morning to realize once gain that we were either lucky enough to be born here or blessed enough to have migrated to the GREATEST COUNTRY IN THE WORLD> If you agree with me or feel the way I do, please comment back with your feelings.

2022 can be your best year ever
If you are between 16 years old and 56 years, don’t make the same mistakes I made in my work life. If you want to have more time to enjoy doing what you want to do, if you want more time to spend with your significant other or your children and grandchildren, don’t do what I did. If you highly value your self-worth, which everyone should, don’t fall in the same traps I fell into.
I have achieved very high positions in my career such as “Director” at one of the largest cosmetics companies in the world, if not the largest, I became the “President” of one of the most iconic American product/brand in the history of the United States. I earned more than quarter of a million dollars annually and if that doesn’t sound like much to you, remember, this was in the early 2000 before the world ever heard of the word “Billionaire”. Yes, there were CEOs back then who were earning millions of dollars annually but the total number of people in the USA who earned more than quarter of a million dollars a year back then was less than 10% of the total populations.
The extremely high price I paid however, was not anywhere close to my earnings or any amount of earnings I could have achieved doing what I was doing.
I hardly spent time with my loved ones, I never had time to be a lone for even a hot minute to thinks or enjoy the beautiful nature around me. Missed so many opportunities to “bond” with loved ones, family, friends, or even bond with nature. Yes, I was a full-fledged workaholic.
Then, some sort of an awaking happened to me and I started to THINK.
In my early years, although I was an engineer by education and even by title at the time, I used to teach a course at work. The course name was “The business of Paradigms”. As we all may know, the word paradigm means a set of rules or believes that develop within ourselves since we’re born. These paradigms are good, for the most part, because they set our moral compos such as how we treat others, our work ethics, our, our believes or non-believes in a higher power, but most importantly, our way of THINKING.
My paradigms back then were the same as most people then or even today. I was always told and I believed that if I went to school, got a good job with a good company, worked hard every day at my job, I will be “well” compensated and have room for promotions which can take me to the top of the mountain where you can earn whatever you want to EVEN up to a quarter of million dollars or more.
The problems were:
1. I was like 80% of the population, the more I earned, the higher the bills became. After all, isn’t that the goal? Live the dream? Bigger house, nicer cars, travel the world, enjoy life like it was meant to be.
2. I was again like 80% or the population, ALLOWING people or companies, etc.… to TELL ME what I am worth.
My thinking began to change and boy, what I would give up today to discover my new way of thinking years and years ago.
As I stated before, something happened to me and I started to THINK.
I started to think, why am I having to work so hard and so long while depriving my loved ones and even depriving myself of the wonderful things this life offers, not just material things but more Importantly, relationships with a loved one, children, grandchildren, extended family, friends, and even nature itself.
I started to think, are all the “super rich” people are just BAD people, cutthroat, connivers, ruthless and con artists?
See, this is one of the paradigm many of us create in our minds by ourselves or by the power of suggestions made by our parents, loved ones, or other people in our lives that we respected or had some authority over us.
I decided at that time, to make sure I get to meet some of these “rich people” to see if I can validate my paradigm. By the way, rich people to me, were those who earned much more than “a quarter of a million dollars”.
Some of these people were rich when I met them and spent time with them, some of them were poor when I met them then became rich. I made many observations about those rich people and the observations were the same for people who were already rich when I met them or they were poor when I met them originally, then became rich.
One of the MAIN observations I made was that money doesn’t change people and money is NOT “the route of every evil”. I even observed that the LOVE of money is also not one of the reason people change or can change. What I clearly observed is that money AMPLIFIES who we already are. If I am a “good person”, money will allow me to do much more good in life but if I am a “bad person”, money will allow me to be that much worse.
Another major observation I made was the rich people DON’T have a specific education level. Many of them didn’t even finish high school. Another broken paradigm, you remember, early on I stated that my paradigm was, go to school, get a job with a good company, et…. I found out that is not true at all, at least not in most cases I encountered I my research.
The biggest observation however was they didn’t work as hard as I thought one would to reach that kind of riches. They had plenty of time to enjoy their life as well as enrich those lives around them not only with money but with time, nurturing, loving, caring, etc.…
How did they do it? How did they get there? What is their secret.
That and much more will be coming your way in the next few days, just follow us on Facebook and Instagram.
