One of the biggest mistakes I see is people wanting to jump straight to using a machine before truly mastering the basics. I always encourage my students to first learn how to confidently operate a manual hand tool. When you’re holding a hand tool, you’re in complete control. Once you move to a machine, it’s much easier to understand because you’ve already built the proper foundation.
