Peep the CUTEST little miniature Fairy Hair Garden studio 🥹🧚‍♀️🌸✨

Come by Velvet Witch House and see it for yourself! This is the sweetest little beginning of an idea I’ve had floating around in my head for a while, and now I kind of want to make one for ALL of our studios. 💜

My favorite part? The teeny tiny artwork on the walls! The frames are made from dried hot glue and metallic Sharpie, and the pictures inside are cut from wildflower seed packets. Even the little map on the wall, which I’ve officially named the Fairy Migration Map, came from a seed packet showing growing zones across the country. 😂🌼

I had SO much fun creating this little world, and I can’t wait to watch it grow. If you happen to come across anything miniature that belongs in a fairy hair studio, PLEASE bring it to your next appointment! I’d love for everyone to add a little something to it. 🧚‍♀️

And here’s a little thought that came to me while making it…

Sometimes, when you’re completely overwhelmed by all the big, important things you should be doing, you need to make time for a completely unnecessary little project that brings you joy.

If you know me, or you’ve ever looked at the Fairy Hair Garden schedule and wondered how on earth I manage to do all the things I do, you know I absolutely do NOT have time to be building miniature furniture and making tiny pictures out of hot glue. 😂

But I’m an artist first, a business owner second, and sometimes I need to remind myself of that.

As a Virgo with a brain that seemingly NEVER stops running through a million things at once, getting lost in a silly little creative project is sometimes exactly what I need. No deadlines, no expectations, no big important outcome. Just making something because it makes me happy. 💗

So here’s your reminder to make time for the little things that bring you joy, even when you have a million other things to do.

Because creating beautiful dreadlocks really is an art form. 🎨🌿

This beautiful woman came back to me to add MORE DREADS and I am just so happy with how her hair is coming along!! 💜

We started with a two-row partial at her last appointment, and this time we brought her dreadlocks all the way up to the back of her crown! This style of partial is actually a lot easier to wear because you don’t have all that loose hair hanging over your dreads wanting to tangle with the locks. She’s LOVING the change!

And the cutest part? She was a little worried about what her family would think of her dreadlocks… turns out EVERYBODY loves them. I mean, there’s just no denying a beautiful head of dreads!! ✨

🌿 A little dreadlock education while we’re here!

If you look closely, you’ll notice her older, more mature dreadlocks underneath are a warmer, golden blonde, while her brand-new extensions are a cooler, silvery blonde.

Here’s the fun part — these extensions were made using the SAME hair!

Human hair dreadlock extensions continue to live their little lives right along with you. 💫 Over time, they’re exposed to your water, minerals, sunlight, hair products, and everything else your hair experiences. All of those things can influence the color and texture as the extensions age and mature.

Her original extensions have naturally shifted to a warmer golden tone over time, while the new ones are still that fresh silvery blonde. And guess what? Those new ones will eventually soften, shift in tone, and mature right along with the rest of her hair!

That’s one of my favorite things about working with human hair dreadlocks. They’re not meant to stay frozen in time. They evolve with you, and every set becomes a little more uniquely YOURS. 🌿✨
