It’s been a hot minute with that nurse life - mom life; always on the move. And just when I think things will get easier they don’t 😂 while being busy might sound like a good thing, I’ve come to learn that’s not always the case. If anything, it has led me to experience more anxiety, heart palpitations, insomnia, fatigue, body aches and occasionally … depression. I think I need to start prioritizing my health a little bit more and just learn to step back. You can’t keep pouring from an empty cup. Sooooo I’m going to say no more often, put some boundaries, take needed rest days, and invest into more meaningful relationships where others can also pour into me 💕 ✝️

JUNEEEEEEE is here, my birth month! If I had to describe my feelings in terms of turning 31, I’d say “no longer acute, but chronic continuous achy back pain 7/10 unrelieved by anything.” ⬅️ can’t tell if it’s that nurse life or mom life, but probably both 🤷🏻‍♀️ they say good things never come easy so that makes perfect sense lol. I mean the self fulfillment you get as a mom and In saving lives? Priceless 🏥

Happy Monday! Last week has been quite chaotic for me with back to back shifts. Although mentally I knew I could keep going, emotionally and physically I was drained so this week is my break and chance to get other things done and just take a little step back from being a “nurse”. There’s a reason why our shifts shouldn’t be more than 3-4 days per week , because it’s impossible to have a limitless amount of compassion for patients. Patients can be difficult. And the responsibility of having their lives in your hands as well as trying to be a peacemaker for the entire medical team will take a toll on you. Fighting to do what’s best for the patient but them choosing not to listen to your instructions will also test your own heart and make you want to just give up…. But if you give up, who will be their advocate? At the end of the day, these patients are sick, and they’re in need. So if you want to provide the best care, you gotta make sure you take care of yourself. It’s cliche, but unfortunately is way too forgotten for those in the medical field.
