Our mission is motivate young people to be better citizens. CSM Jones and 1SG Davis Our program started at A.J.Moore High School in August of 2000.

Jrotc certification was obtained in June of 2001. During this time Jrotc was instructed by Major Conner, and 1 Sargeant Terrell. In 2012 during the state budget cuts, the school board voted to merge A.J.Moore with University High School. The A.J.Moore Jrotc program moved to Waco High where it is proudly resides today.

On behalf of Waco High School JROTC “Lions Battalion” we would like to thank WISD, our Admin Team, and the numerous Family Members for their unwavering support to the program throughout the 2025-2026 school year.

Our Cadets recently attended their end-of-the-year field trip to Kalahari Resorts in Round Rock, TX. This educational theme park visit served as an effective and memorable trip focusing on combining hands-on learning with Cadet bonding.

Representatives from Navy Federal Credit Union recently stopped by Waco HS JROTC for a financial presentation. This educational session was designed to teach students personal finance basics, such as budgeting, saving, credit, and investing. These practical skills for real-world money management foster financial literacy before graduation.

Cadets from Waco HS JROTC recently attended their 2025-2026 Military Ball. This event served as a formal celebration where Cadets practiced military etiquette, built camaraderie, and honored program achievements. The Military Ball also included an agenda which featured a Receiving Line, Social Time, Formal Dinner, Honors to The Colors, and Dancing. We would like to thank our Special Guests and all that were able to attend.

In preparation for the 2026 Waco HS JROTC Military Ball, cadets recently took part in a series of Ballroom Etiquette Classes. These classes were designed to cover proper introductions, dance floor etiquette, partner interaction, and dining manners to build confidence and character. Our cadets are looking forward to their Military Ball with great anticipation.

Waco High School JROTC Color Guard recently introduced new members to its All Male Team. These Cadets debuted during the Annual Black History Month Program and did a tremendous job. The future is truly bright.

Waco High School JROTC recently launched its Archery Program under the direct supervision of the JROTC Instructors. The National Archery in the Schools Program (NASP) is an initiative focusing on safe, inclusive, in- school, and competitive target archery. It promotes DISCIPLINE, FOCUS, and PARTICIPATION regardless of physical abilities.

The Cadets of Waco HS JROTC recently visited the campus of The University of Texas at Austin “Longhorns” hosted by the Cadre and Cadets from its ROTC program. Army JROTC Cadets visit college campuses to explore higher education opportunities, bridge the gap between high school and college, and explore Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC) programs.

We would like to extend a huge thankyou to our Administration, Lieutenant Colonel Rinaldi, and her Cadre for making this visit possible.

The Cadets of Waco HS JROTC recently concluded First Aid Training which was spearheaded by Active Duty Medical Soldiers from 36th Engineer Brigade, Fort Hood TX. During the training sessions our Cadets learned the purpose of the universal medical precautions and the steps for evaluating a casualty.

We are extremely grateful for the Soldiers of 36th EN BDE for their continued support and dedication.
