Something special is coming to Downtown Wake Forest. 🖼️

On July 19 from 2–4 PM, I’ll be hosting an Emerging Artist Walk at True You Studio featuring the debut of incredibly talented young q***r artist Izzy (.by.seller. Their work is vibrant and playful… and just really cool to experience in person. 💞

A few of our downtown neighbors may also be joining in on the fun as we continue finalizing details this week 👀 so stay tuned for more announcements soon.

Happy Pansexual Awareness Day 💖💛💙

Fun little studio fact… the subtle colors in the True You Studio logo were intentionally inspired by the pansexual flag.

Pansexual means attraction regardless of gender. It’s about connection, chemistry, energy, humanity… and recognizing that love and attraction comes in all shapes and forms. It’s actually a pretty beautiful wide open world through pansexual eyes. 💞

This week honestly reminded me why visibility and community matter so much.

On Tuesday, I had the honor of receiving the June LGBTQ+ Pride Month proclamation announced by the Mayor of Wake Forest that I initiated. Seeing that make local news meant a lot because representation matters, especially in small growing towns like ours.

Then last night, I got to chaperone a q***r prom hosted by and watched so many young people simply get to exist, celebrate, laugh, dress up, and feel safe being themselves. That kind of joy is so important.

True You Studio is absolutely a place where I hope people leave feeling great about their hair… but it’s always been more than that to me.

It’s a place where people are welcomed.
A place where people can exhale.
A place where people don’t have to shrink themselves to belong. It’s all that for me too.

Not only is she graduating with her Master of Public Administration, but she also brings so much heart, creativity, and care to the work she does here in Wake Forest. Our community events feel special because of people like her.

Today is World Autism Awareness Day,
but for me, this isn’t about awareness as much as it is about understanding.

At True You Studio, there is no “right way” to be.
You don’t have to perform, over-explain, or push through discomfort to be accepted here.

If you need quiet, we can sit in quiet.
If you need to talk, I’m here.
If you’re overstimulated, we slow it down.

You’re allowed to take up space exactly as you are.

And honestly… that should be the standard everywhere.
