It’s that time of year again! As summer approaches, I will try to be finalizing my swim schedule within the next two weeks. So many of my clients have left the dozens of surrounding swim schools (splash, American swim academy, little dippers, all stars swim etc) because they are dissatisfied with progress and high instructor turnover, and come to me because my students, on average progress in half the time. Plus, my students learn to be efficient in the water and learn proper technique from the get-go. Efficient swimmers are strong swimmers- this makes them both SAFER swimmers and, incidentally, FASTER swimmers, as proven by the fact that over half my competitive swimmers are making waves at county. Besides all of the swim technique my students learn, I also have advanced degrees in psych and a PhD in neuroscience. This means that I help my students cope with anxiety, build confidence and pride in each progression, and learn the importance of ‘trying’ over perfectionism (which can be paralyzing for some little ones).

Normally I have a waitlist, but I spent all last summer training my nephew in the progression system I developed. He will be working alongside me with his own students this summer. ‘Coach Genevieve has been incredibly helpful in teaching my girls to swim. Despite lessons a couple years ago, neither of my kids would even put their faces in the water, but after one lesson with Coach Gen, they started. After only a few lessons, my older daughter was able to swim by herself on our beach vacation, and our younger daughter, while not quite swimming on her own, was very confident in the water and almost there. We were hesitant to start lessons due to the cost, but my husband and I feel that we will actually end up spending less money in the end, as our kids are making much faster progress than we expected.’

My competitive swimmer clientele had grown tremendously this year, all from referrals. I have around 20 competitive swimmer clients and it’s such a thrill to hear how they are dropping time each week at meets! Several of my students are now the fastest swimmers in their age group- and one of them wrote the most lovely review of what I bring to the table as a coach. During these unprecedented times, I want to reassure my families that I am doing EVERYTHING possible to protect your children and families from Covid. Since many parents ask, I’m happy to spell out these precautions here:
I am fully vaccinated and boosted
I instruct with an N95 mask during these high-transmission periods
My setup provides ample room for family spacing to minimize contact between families
I instruct out of a chlorinated pool (the chlorine levels are lower than one would experience at a public pool with high contamination, but also high enough to kill Covid and prevent transmission- all chemical levels are closely monitored).

I’ve instructed throughout Covid with no transmissions and continue to do everything possible to hold that standard. Teaching your children means the world to me- I have immunocompromised students and family members, families with newborns, etc and I take my responsibility to keep families safe a priority while still providing top-notch instruction.
