One of my favorite parts of this work happened today. 🖤🖤🖤
I had the opportunity to hand deliver a blood pressure cuff to one of our moms. We sat with her, answered her questions, reassured her, and made sure she felt heard, not rushed. During our visit, we talked through her blood pressure goals, the warning signs of preeclampsia, what prenatal testing we recommend, and why those tests matter. Education is one of the most powerful tools we can give our patients, but so is taking the time to listen.
We also talked about our program and what makes it different. Our moms don’t just receive prenatal care, they have access to culturally competent medical care, a midwife who understands their unique needs, and direct access to me for guidance, education, and support throughout their pregnancy.
This is why our work matters. Sometimes the most impactful intervention isn’t a medication or a test, it’s making sure a mother feels seen, supported, and confident in her care. By building relationships, removing barriers, and providing personalized, culturally responsive care, we’re helping families feel informed, empowered, and supported every step of the way. That’s what truly sets our program apart. 🖤🖤

Today we had the privilege of attending the Black Women Cultivating Change 3rd Annual Black Mental Health Summit, where we heard from incredible speakers who highlighted the importance of mental health in our communities.
As we continue to grow our Black Midwives Program, events like this remind us that supporting mothers goes far beyond pregnancy and birth. Maternal mental health is an essential part of improving outcomes for Black families. Every mother deserves to be heard, supported, and connected to culturally responsive care throughout pregnancy, birth, and the postpartum period.
We even ran into our program counselor Sheryl! We thoroughly enjoyed the day and left feeling inspired, encouraged, and even more committed to the work we’re doing to support Black mothers in our community. 🖤🖤🖤

Help us congratulate our student, Kennedi, from Spelman College! 🩵💙
Kennedi is one of the winners of the The Dayton Area HBCU Send-Off Community Impact Essay Contest! Students were asked to write about an individual making a positive impact in their community, and we’re honored that she chose to write about our favorite Black midwife Shiphrah Toni Tipton🖤
It means so much to see the next generation recognize the importance of birth equity, compassionate care, and the lasting impact that Black midwives have on our families and communities.
We are so proud of Kennedi and can’t wait to see all that she accomplishes. Be like Kennedi and use your voice to inspire change! ✊🏾❤️🖤💚
WE ARE BACK!!
We restarted our programming this week including our FREE prenatal and postpartum massages at our new location located in the Liberty Center!
If you know a black mom in Butler County who is pregnant, breastfeeding or postpartum we would love to connect! 🖤🖤🖤🖤

Story time. ❤️
When I became a mom, I didn’t know a thing about breastfeeding. Then I met Cindy Meale at our local WIC office. She encouraged me to breastfeed my son, and that simple conversation changed the course of my motherhood journey. She’s still at WIC fighting the good fight! ✊🏾
I would go on to breastfeed all five of my children. Every chance I get, I make sure Cindy knows she’s the reason I even tried.
Who would have thought that one woman’s encouragement would spark a love for breastfeeding that would become such a big part of who I am and the work I do today? One conversation, one person believing in you, can truly change everything. ❤️
